Sunflower Bank, N.A. is looking for an energetic, highly motivated individual to fill the position of a full-time Accounting Manager at our Salina, KS location.

Summary

The Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing timely and accurate banking accounting and corporate accounting processes and personnel. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for the enhancement of risk review and internal controls over processes within their purview.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversee accounting processes for deposits, corporate debt, lease accounting, stockholder’s equity, loans, investments, hedging transactions, among other accounting topics.
  • Ensure implementation of applicable accounting guidance on processes overseen.
  • Develop team members’ goals and growth strategy, tracking progression. Monitor and communicate performance objectives and outcomes.
  • Maintain understanding of systems’ accounting on the general ledger.
  • Assist team with complex or infrequent accounting transactions.
  • Recommend efficient and effective control processes to accomplish control objectives from various regulatory and other requirements.
  • Test controls meant to mitigate risk, appropriately documenting results.
  • Gather accounting performance information and provide to management periodically.
  • Communicate with various stakeholders financial statement results, during and following the close process.
  • Provide documentation of control activities to internal and external parties as required.
  • Research and recommend new software or enhancements to existing software as needed.
  • Work in conjunction with other accounting managers, covering duties as needed.
  • Provide functional support to the Assistant Controller, Controller, and CAO as requested.
  • Comply with and maintain understanding of bank policies, procedures and banking regulations.
  • Maintain effective business relationships both inside and outside of the bank, including co-workers, customers, vendors and others.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education / Experience Required

  • At minimum, Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field. Accounting degree preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant certification preferred.
  • Two years of previous accounting or auditing experience in the banking/finance field.
  • Previous supervision experience is preferred.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to troubleshoot is essential.
  • Tactful communication skills are required.
  • Experience with Fiserv Signature and/or Fiserv Prologue a plus.
  • Experience and sensitivity in working with and maintaining confidential information.
