Position Summary:
The internal accounting position will be responsible for daily accounting and reporting activities. The accountant will be responsible for all financial bookkeeping through use of both QuickBooks and Excel, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll. They will work closely with the COO and CFO on these tactical operations while also assisting in budgeting, forecasting, and working with Program and Operational leads to improve operations.
Essential Functions:
The final candidate selected for the position will be required to undergo a criminal background check and drug screening. Essential Functions:
- Accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Prepare invoices as required.
- Record all receipts, including cash, credit cards, checks, and direct deposits.
- Assemble information for external auditors as needed.
- Ensure employee reports (expense reports, credit card expenses, etc.) are entered into the accounting system promptly, with proper documentation.
- Assist the COO and CFO with preparing financial reports needed for the Board Finance Committee and the Kinnect Board of Directors meetings as needed.
- Code and enter all invoices accurately.
- Maintain 1099 forms and support the annual filing of 1099’s.
- Utilize and maintain an organized accounting filing system.
- Compile documents for external auditors for preparation of tax filings
- Assist with filing annual reports as required.
- Assist in the development and implementation of goals, policies, priorities and procedures relating to general accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll accounting.
- Review credit card transactions for proper coding, required approvals
- Assist in the preparation of monthly invoices for government grants, contracts, and foundations, while ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Work closely with funding partners to review and ensure timely/accurate receipt (or payment) of funding on monthly/quarterly basis.
- Maintain accounting records and upload annual budgets into QuickBooks.
- Support the execution of the Strategic Plan for the organization.
- Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks.

- Minimum three years of experience in general accounting.
- Non-Profit Accounting experience preferred.
- Knowledge of payroll and bookkeeping principles
- High level of initiative with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication and mathematical skills, including the ability to interpret and present accounting information clearly and concisely.
- Detail-orientated, organized and able to manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Team-oriented with excellent relationship building and communication skills.
- Proficient in QuickBooks, Paycor, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Travel required, as needed. Must have access to own transportation.
- This job requires occasional overnight travel
- Kinnect as an organization has a Hybrid Work Model that combines remote and on-site work at Kinnect, as well as routine on-site or in-person work with team members, partner sites, community events, and direct service in the field.
