Accounts Payable Specialist - #256652

Are you a detail-oriented, self-motivated professional with a passion for numbers and processes? We’re looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to join our Finance team in Kalamazoo.

In this role, you’ll provide administrative and transactional support for the vendor invoice Purchase-to-Pay cycle—ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to established policies and procedures. This position requires an individual who can work independently but also thrives in a collaborative team setting.

How You Contribute

• Process vendor invoices in a timely manner ensuring accuracy.
• Resolve vendor discrepancies and internal errors initiating improvements as needed.
• Make payments via check, ACH, or wire to vendors within terms while maximizing discounts.
• Maintain vendor records.
• Ensure proper use tax application on purchases.
• Administer Petty Cash.
• Obtain and maintain W-9 and W-8 documents.
• Process and file 1099-MISC forms annually.
• Perform accounts payable month-end and year-end processes including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, documentation, and audit requests.
• Provide support and back up for the P-Card administration.
• Participate in cross-functional meetings including purchasing and receiving.
• Provide internal customer support, guidance, and training as it pertains to purchases and expenditures.
• Maintain working relationships with vendors.
• Maintain data for key financial metrics.
• Utilize Lean concepts and innovation to initiate continuous improvements.
• Participate in Finance Team activities.
  
  
  

Criteria For Success

• Associate’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business—or equivalent experience
• 3+ years of relevant accounts payable experience
• Integrity, discretion, and the ability to handle confidential information
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent time management and communication abilities
• Proven ability to meet deadlines with high accuracy
• High-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel
