Examples Of Work To Be Performed
- Supervises staff, which includes prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff is trained; ensuring employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; and, making hiring, termination, and disciplinary decisions or recommendations.
- Prepares departmental plans, budget items, reporting and special projects while ensuring timely completion, accuracy and high quality deliverables.
- Oversee departmental budget reporting and establishes processes and oversight for payment authorizations, purchase orders, time keeping and facility or event services.
- Implement processes that ensure staff compliance with records management policies, ensuring alignment to city regulations and serving as a subject matter expert on records retention.
- Facilitate contract management and new agreement coordination.
- Represent the department at meetings with other city departments as needed.

Required Knowledge Skills And Abilities
- Knowledge of business administration, budget preparation, and record-keeping principles.
- Skilled in problem-solving, conflict resolution, computer usage, research, and analysis.
- Ability to communicate effectively, supervise staff, interpret policies and procedures, and maintain confidentiality.
- Proficiency in organizational and time management, report preparation, and establishing effective working relationships.
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent job-related work experience.
- Four (4) years of progressively responsible administrative and operational experience in support of department, division, or major service area.
- Previous project or program leadership experience
- Bilingual preferred - English/Spanish speaking.
- Additional specialized training or certification.
- Experience working in local government.
