Summary
The AVP, Commercial Credit Officer is responsible for evaluating credit risk and deal structures for commercial and industrial clients, as well as commercial real estate customers. This role involves conducting a comprehensive analysis of all credit aspects, including preparing financial industry projections and performance assessments in accordance with established bank polices, strategies, and procedures for new loan requests, renewals, and annual reviews. Additionally, the Credit Officer reviews standard loan documentation to ensure compliance with approval terms.

Additionally, the Credit Officer reviews standard loan documentation to ensure compliance with approval terms.
What You'll Do
Underwriting Credit Requests
- Responsible for preparing the Credit Approval Memoranda (“CAM”) for presentation to the appropriate Loan Approval hierarchy.
- Spread and analyze Borrowers’ and Guarantors’ financials statements. CAM must properly assess cash flow, capacity, collateral and all major risks associated with the Bank lending to these customers.
- Coordinate and incorporate 3rd party reports into the credit analysis.
- Review and address credit approval conditions and covenants.
- The Commercial Credit Officer is the senior analyst of the underwriting team and will be working on more complex and larger loan requests. This will involve a great deal of interaction with the lending officers occasionally attending joint calls to gather the necessary information.
- The senior credit analyst should be knowledgeable and comfortable to give direction on structuring of credit proposals to protect the Bank.
- Assist junior analysts with any questions that they may have regarding underwriting credit requests which would include structure, financial analysis including cash flow and specific industry particulars.
- Conduct periodic portfolio reviews and credit & legal file audits.
- Compliance covenant testing and follow for financial reporting requirements.
- Assists with special projects or other duties as assigned.
- BS in business related field and 5+ years of specific work experience.
- Solid experience in financial analysis, structuring, underwriting and portfolio management, strong communication and analytical/technical skills, including financial accounting, modeling and loan structuring.
- Oral Communication: Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations. Listens and gets classification; Demonstrates group presentation skills; Participates in meetings.
- Written Communication: Writes clearly and informatively; Edits work for spelling and grammar; Varies writing style to meet needs; Presents numerical data effectively; Able to read and interpret written information.
- Ethics: Treats people with respect; Keeps commitments; Works with integrity and ethically
- Strong technical and analytical skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Thorough knowledge of credit policy, procedures, regulation and applicable law
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with intermediate Excel and Power BI skills, preferred.
