Overview And Essential Job Functions

The BI Engineer / Data Modeling Focus owns the backbone of Acumen’s Business Intelligence environment. They are responsible for wrangling complex datasets, optimizing pipelines, and building scalable Power BI data models that power decision-making across the company.

• Design, build, and optimize star schema models and Power BI datasets
• Develop and maintain ETL pipelines from source systems (e.g., DCI)
• Ensure data quality, refresh reliability, and performance
• Collaborate with engineers and analysts to ensure semantic consistency
• Support automation engineer with data sourcing and event-driven triggers
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• 4+ years in data engineering, Power BI, or analytics engineering roles
• 2+ years of experience with Power BI Premium or Microsoft Fabric
• Hands-on experience using Fabric Data Pipelines, Custom Notebooks or Azure Functions, and Lakehouse or Warehouse components
• Deep experience in SQL, Power BI dataflows, and data modeling best practices
• Passion for data integrity and building usable systems
• Knowledge of healthcare or self-direction data a plus
• Experience working with Power BI Premium or large semantic models
• PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Master’s in information systems, Data Engineering, or related field preferred
• Experience using Microsoft SQL Server (T-SQL, stored procedures) or Snowflake as a data source
