Essential Functions And Responsibilities
- Book DMPA-presented and co-promoted shows that align with DMPA’s mission, programming goals, and financial objectives, managing all aspects of the booking process from negotiation to execution.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with booking agents, promoters, industry peers, and artists to position DMPA as a leading venue for diverse productions.
- Negotiate artist fees, ticket prices, expenses, and merchandising arrangements in consultation with leadership, and communicate contract terms with the Finance team to finalize agreements.
- Create pro-formas for performance analysis, manage venue holds, and keep leadership informed of booking inquiries and opportunities.
- Collaborate with the Programming Manager to draft and review artist contracts, offer letters, budgets, and riders, and ensure all contractual obligations are met. Track and manage bonding documents, payments, and other financial arrangements (e.g., deposits, bonuses, buyouts).
- Attend industry conferences, events, and local performances to stay current on trends, potential artists, and opportunities.
- Support Programming Manager in negotiations with external promoters and other key projects, as needed.
- Ensure comprehensive oversight of all performance rentals, responding to inquiries and ensuring proper vetting and follow-through.
- Foster professional relationships with artists, agents, and managers, collaborating with the Programming Manager as needed.
- Demonstrate a passion for live performing arts and a commitment to supporting and elevating global artists across multiple disciplines.
- Maintain a comprehensive event overview for each presented performance, ensuring all gaps and details are thoroughly addressed.
- Liaise with internal teams (Stage Operations, Company Management, Front of House, Marketing, Finance, etc.) and external parties (artists, agents, promoters) to ensure smooth execution of all performance details, including addressing inquiries and ensuring timely completion of contracts, payments, and logistical requirements.
- Coordinate and communicate event details across internal departments, ensuring all teams (finance, marketing, production, guest services, etc.) are aligned and prepared.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Combination of education and/or experience of 3-5 years in arts management/booking/programming, including show budgeting, artist negotiations, and/or engagement management. Experience with commercial booking strongly preferred.

- Strong project and contract management skills, with a proven track record of managing multiple priorities and competing demands efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills, including writing, proofreading, speaking, and fostering positive relationships across departments and with artists.
- Demonstrated financial management proficiency, including experience with Excel and ability to manage fiscal information across projects and fiscal years.
- Detail-oriented and deadline-driven, with a focus on achieving organizational and departmental goals.
- Strong negotiating skills and a passion for event production, with a problem-solving and quick decision-making mindset.
- Team-oriented and collaborative, thriving in cross-departmental cooperation, anticipating needs, and fostering a cooperative work environment.
- Self-motivated and proactive, with a demonstrated ability to exercise urgency and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook) and adaptable to learning new platforms such as Momentus/VenueOps, Tessitura, Ramp, and Dynamic Budgets.
