Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role as a Centralized Scheduler located in Columbus, GA. As a Centralized Scheduler, your day-to-day tasks will involve coordinating, scheduling, and managing appointments for various healthcare services provided by Valley Healthcare System.

Summary: Responsible for setting up exams for patients and handling customer service inquiries while ensuring that there is enough time between appointments to allow physicians to complete certain medical examinations and procedures. Perform clerical duties to include typing, maintaining databases, faxing and scanning patient histories, answering phones, and updating patient account information. Most work will be performed on a phone and desktop computer.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications: High school graduate or equivalent. A minimum of one (1) year business office training or equivalent experience preferred. Knowledge of medical / imaging terminology. Telephone experience required. Significant computer experience required Customer Service experience required. Must successfully pass a drug screening and a criminal background check.
Compliance: Adhere to company policies and procedures and all Federal, State and Local medical service requirements. To include HIPAA Privacy & Security.
Confidentiality (HIPAA): Every employee is required to sign a Pledge of Confidentiality. Failure to comply with our Pledge of Confidentiality can or will lead to immediate termination of employment. Confidentiality applies to a patient’s Personal Health Information (PHI) and includes: written, oral and electronic communications. Each employee has an obligation to maintain confidentiality after their employment/association with this facility ends.
Security (HIPAA): Every employee is required to protect their computer log-on and password. You must secure your work area prior to leaving it unattended for an extended period of time. You are required to log-off of your computer and secure your work area prior to leaving at the end of the day. If you have a responsibility for closing or locking files, securing equipment, or locking the building and you do not comply with these requirements, you will be subject to reprimand and/or termination based upon the infraction. Duties And Responsibilities
- Schedule, cancel, reschedule, and confirms patient’s appointments.
- Answers inquiries via the telephone from all customers that satisfactorily assists their needs
- Must maintain effective communication with physician offices and community hospitals to help assist with the patients’ medical care.
- Answers telephone as needed and creates telephone encounters to appropriate individuals.
- Address telephone encounters within a timely manner.
- Responsible for retrieving voicemails and addressing the voicemails within a timely manner .
- Answer all incoming calls and address the customers’ needs accordingly .
- Schedule appointments in accordance to the company’s scheduling template per departmental scheduling requirements .
- Perform any other duties asked by supervisor when needed
