Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED General Studies; Associate Degree in Health Science or related field preferred
- Certified Cancer Registrar
- 2+ years Cancer Registry experience
- Review pathology reports and ensure accurate AJCC cancer staging documentation, CAP protocols, and physician-completed staging forms.
- Abstract and maintain cancer registry data using industry standards and coding systems, including AJCC, ICD-O, SEER, Collaborative Staging, and Facility Registry Data Standards.
- Submit accurate and timely cancer data to the National Cancer Database (NCDB) and State Tumor Registry, and prepare monthly departmental statistics.
- Perform monthly quality assurance audits for Radiation Oncology, chemotherapy, and diagnostic data to ensure data accuracy and compliance.
- Participate in multidisciplinary Tumor Board conferences, documenting discussions, treatment recommendations, and patient care decisions.
- Support American College of Surgeons (ACOS)/Commission on Cancer accreditation efforts by maintaining knowledge of standards and ensuring compliance.
- Assist with daily Cancer Registry operations and provide coverage in the absence of the Oncology Program Manager.
- Participate in community outreach, cancer education, screening events, and support programs.
- Promote a positive, collaborative work environment through teamwork, professionalism, and excellent communication.
- Comply with UNC Health standards related to safety, service, accountability, continuous improvement, HIPAA, corporate compliance, credential maintenance, and required education/training.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

- Multiple Primary Histology Manual and COC FORDS manual
- Working knowledge of ACOS requirements
- Knowledge of Cancer data software systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
- Strong investigative and analytical skills with detail orientation
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to function as a self-paced individual
