As a key executive partner to the CEO, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) provides leadership, thought partnership, and operational oversight to advance the culture, efficiency, and effectiveness of the organization’s daily operations. The COO oversees the USOPC’s strategic planning, finance, information & digital technology, procurement, and facilities management functions with a focus on internal business partnership. Here's a Summary Of Responsibilities

The COO oversees the USOPC’s strategic planning, finance, information & digital technology, procurement, and facilities management functions with a focus on internal business partnership. The COO should have an eye for efficient processes, while identifying strategic opportunities to create new value for the organization.

Division Operations
- Lead the development of strategies that drive operational excellence and efficiency of the Business Operations division, as well as the broader organization.
- Create alignment across all departments to provide excellent service and support to internal and external stakeholders to be able to achieve division, department, and organizational goals.
- Foster and champion an internal business partner philosophy of cross-functional partnership. Serve as a core partner to Development, Sport & Athlete Services, Strategy & Growth, and People & Culture divisions.
- Lead the Business Operations leadership team to develop, implement, and communicate plans for improvements to processes, reporting systems, and company policies. Identify strategic opportunities to create assets and new value for the USOPC. Lead change management efforts for organization-wide operational projects.
- Lead the development of both long-term strategic plans and annual impact priority (AIP) plans to ensure the success and optimization of the organization year over year.
- Provide leadership and expertise in developing and measuring key performance indicators for the USOPC’s long-range strategic plan and AIP, while emphasizing continuous improvement, stewardship of organizational resources, and a superior customer experience.
- Lead the Strategic Impact team to prepare for quarterly AIP review meetings, providing guidance and direction on agenda topics, materials development, and leadership engagement.
- Elevate the organization’s financial acumen to drive efficiency and value creation in all financial, accounting, reporting, and analysis strategies and processes. Oversee the USOPC’s financial operations to ensure strong financial health for the organization to accomplish business priorities.
- Enhance the use of technology, data, and technical infrastructure to enable the organization to achieve its mission and short- and long-term priorities. Transform data and technology from a process enabler to a strategic differentiator.
- Evolve the USOPC’s approach to procurement, focusing on driving cost efficiency, supplier performance, and supply chain optimization while maintaining compliance with ethical sourcing practices.
- Leverage the organization’s real estate assets to advance the delivery of our mission while ensuring a safe and memorable experience for all guests, including staff, athletes, National Governing Bodies (NGBs), and other domestic and international representatives.
- Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team sharing diverse ideas to guide strategic actions and make important business decisions, drive priorities, and lead change for the success of the organization as a whole.
- Serve a key role in creating, reinforcing, and supporting the USOPC’s culture.
- Embody the USOPC’s core values and promote and acknowledge them across the organization.
- Support the USOPC’s diversity, equity, and inclusion goals, with a focus on championing inclusivity and fostering belonging for all.
- Represent the USOPC as an externally facing ambassador at meetings and events with prospective and current sponsors, donors, and other external stakeholders. Present to external stakeholder groups such as NGBs, the Foundation, Endowment, LA28, and other affiliated organizations.
- Present to the USOPC Board of Directors and affiliated committees to provide updates and progress of strategic objectives, challenges, and opportunities.
- Manage critical business issues, develop short- and long-term strategic plans aligned to the USOPC’s priorities, and oversee a combined budget for all departments. Provide thought leadership and innovative problem-solving around key business challenges.
- Hire, mentor, support, coach, and develop teams. Manage performance of team members effectively.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- Master’s in Business Administration preferred
- 15+ years of experience driving strategy, efficiency, and resource allocation in a technical, financial, and/or operational environment
- 5+ years at the executive level
- Experience in leading people, including demonstrated effectiveness at leading large, cross-functional teams
- Demonstrated executive level experience at building and advancing organizational business strategy
- Robust analytical and quantitative skills
- Demonstrated ability to successfully design, lead, and implement high impact cross-functional projects
- Ability to effectively build and maintain interpersonal relationships
- Strong critical thinking, problem solving and analytical skills
- Effective communicator with different stakeholder groups
- Good judgment and strategic mindset
- Appreciation for sport and the ideals of the Olympic and Paralympic Movement
- Standard office equipment
- Office environment in multi-story building on multi-building site
- Occasional domestic and international travel, some for extended periods of time during Games periods
- Regular attendance at work is an essential job function

Here's Some More Information You Need To Know
- Hiring Pay Range: $350,000 - $425,000 per year.
- Work Week: This Full-Time, Exempt position is intended to work 40 hours per week.
- Bonus: This position will be eligible for the Annual Incentive Award Program, which has a 30% target. The USOPC may change or eliminate this program at any time at its sole discretion.
