SUMMARY: Oversees and coordinates the activities of CNC Operators, ensuring efficient operations and adherence to quality standards in a manufacturing environment. Manage personnel, equipment, and the department (s) to meet production needs safely and efficiently.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Assists with creating programs for computer numerically controlled (CNC) milling centers. Collaborates with engineers on design and

prototyping.

  • Assesses the work schedule and determines availability of raw materials, parts & packaging, labor to fulfill the daily/ weekly production

requirements.

  • Schedules, assigns and supervises associates, capitalizing on their developed skills to maximize productivity and efficiency.
  • Applies sound judgment and discretion in decision-making and utilizes problem solving techniques to identify and resolve production issues.
  • Maintains his/her operation within expected safety and productivity standards. Ensures all associates are trained and competent in the handling

of hazardous waste and all other legislative training requirements relevant to their department.

  • Comprehends written and verbal instructions and translates them into actionable tasks in support of the production process
  • Analyzes and assesses production and or other reports and identifies trends or issues that require action.
  • Resolves associate’s issues effectively, trains and develops his/her work group for maximum flexibility, maximizes the department’s human

capital.

  • Uses technology effectively, is technically competent in all aspects of production, understands technical issues related to his/her department, a

functional expert.

  • Is competent in the use of software systems and applications, maximizes their use and potential for improving the departments efficiency. Uses

time effectively, highly developed organization skills

  • Supports manufacturing lines and new product development work/parts and has the ability to train operators.
  • Provides feedback to senior managers on production and labor issues in a timely and effective manner.

Experience

  • Three to five years of supervision of a group of associates operating computer numerically controlled (CNC) turning and milling centers and

mechanical processing systems in a non-union environment.

  • Three to five years experience in creating programs for computer numerically controlled (CNC) turning and milling centers preferred. Experience

in machine design and manufacture fixture tooling preferred.

  • Has proven ability in improving machining processes and has the ability to comprehend related technical data to determine tooling requirements,

setup procedures, control settings and machining methods and sequences.

  • Understands quality control processes and has worked in a continuous improvement environment
  • Has provided associates with performance feedback, coaches and provides good leadership.
  • Has worked in a team based environment, understands team dynamics, builds teams

Education And Knowledge

  • Well developed communication skills in written and verbal formats
  • Knowledge of basic mechanical systems and the ability to identify problems and make simple mechanical adjustments
  • Supervisory skills, know how to direct, coach, delegate and oversee work teams involved in simple assembly and process operations.
  • Knowledge of programming software applications, Microsoft Office, ERP applications, good basic keyboarding skills.
  • Basic knowledge of labor and safety legislation as it applies to the supervisory role.
  • Knowledge of mathematics and English language skills associated with the completion of a High School Diploma/GED equivalent
  • Knowledge of HAAS and FADAL equipment
