Education

  • Associate of Applied Science Degree in the Communications Technology, Electronics, or related field
  • Bachelor’s degree in telecommunications or computer science related field preferred

Experience / Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years telecommunications experience, OR combination of an Associate of Applied Science Degree in the Communications Technology, Electronics, or related field PLUS at least 2 years telecommunications experience.
  • Minimum 2 years working with healthcare providers, clinicians, and care delivery workers.
  • Demonstrative experince successfully utilizing complex enterprise network and telecommunications software and hardware.
  • Experience with Avaya, Vocera, PatientKeeper, and Microsoft Teams is desired.
  • TCP/IP and Remote Access service experience desired.
  • Collaboration conference room AV knowledge is desired.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and organization skills.
  • Preferred: Microsoft certifications, Cisco certifications, Avaya certifications, Q-Sys and Crestron certifications.
  • Demonstrated success supporting communication solutions in a healthcare setting
  • The ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with IT/Business teams as well as end users.
  • Ability to working closely with the Business, Client Services and Desktop Engineering to continually improve the user experience
  • A solid understanding of Telecom technologies such as VoIP, telephone carriers and associated services, SIP trunking, etc.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft AD, DNS, DHCP, Networking, Firewall technologies
  • Familiarity with one or more Contact Center solutions, such as Avaya or Cisco
  • Broad Knowledge of Telecom Management, Monitoring and Provisioning Tools
  • Strong analytical skills, dedication, attention to detail and ability to excel under pressure
  • Ability to work well with others in a team-oriented environment
  • Ability to setup collaborative conferencing environments for executives and community stakeholders in support of the JMC mission

Position Summary

The Communications Technician is responsible for design, implementation, configuration, troubleshooting, daily operation and upgrading of “core” communications hardware and software. As a member of the Unified Communications Team, the Communications Technician will collaborate to create and maintain communications that include voice, video, and content collaboration across multiple network topologies. The scope of responsibilities includes a campus distributed and remote environment. This role requires solid demonstrated skills with enterprise communications and regular interactions with cross functional teams, clients, and vendors.

  • Collaboration in the support of an enterprise Mobile Device Management (MDM) program that encompasses enterprise owned assets and accommodates BYOD appropriately.
  • Partner with Field Engineers, Systems Engineers, and Enterprise IT leadership along with fellow Communications Technicians to deliver assigned project tasks with the utmost quality and timeliness.
  • Support new project work as well as handling MACD activity.
  • Operation of enterprise voice communication utilizing VOIP and traditional PBX topologies to support growing organization communications needs.
  • Contribute to the design of communications solutions that support collaboration of clinical workers and improve care outcomes for the organization.
  • Support conference room and meeting collaboration solutions that simplify collaboration and improve productivity.
  • Provide support for in-room patient entertainment and engagement solutions.
  • Support continuous maintenance of JMC supplied end-user mobility devices.
  • Provide Tier 3 support for enterprise data and voice networks including route/switch data networks, Carrier Grade MPLS Networks.
  • Providing day to day telecommunication support as assigned including handset programing and troubleshooting, conducting performance and diagnostic testing of telecommunications equipment.
  • Identify inefficiencies and participate in process improvement initiatives.
  • Maintaining accurate and timely status updates on tickets.
  • Assisting in creating and reviewing technical documentation and user guides.
  • Performing problem investigation, diagnosis and root cause analysis with the goal of mitigating the risk of recurring issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements
