Position Overview
The Controller (Accounting) will manage financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and accounting functions to support organizational growth and ensure compliance with Medicare and healthcare regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in health plan finance, Medicare Advantage plans, risk-bearing entities, and financial oversight.
This position reports to the VP of Finance of Verda Healthcare, Inc.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in health plan finance, Medicare Advantage plans, risk-bearing entities, and financial oversight.
This position reports to the VP of Finance of Verda Healthcare, Inc.
Responsibilities
Financial Strategy & Planning:
- Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with organizational goals.
- Optimize financial models, calculate unit economics, and assess various business scenarios.
- Lead the budgeting process, financial projections, and cash flow management.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to prepare and present budget models to leadership and the board.
- Ensure accurate financial reporting in compliance with NAIC and relevant healthcare regulations.
- Monitor the financial health of the health plan to ensure solvency and regulatory compliance.
- Accounting & Financial Reporting:
- Oversee general ledger, reconciliations, month-end close, audits, and payer reporting.
- Prepare and present financial statements in accordance with GAAP and regulatory standards.
- Conduct variance analysis, cost assessments, and profitability reviews.
- Model and evaluate the financial impact of new initiatives or investments, providing actionable insights to leadership.
- Review payer contracts and assess financial risks and opportunities.
- Collaborate with actuarial teams to evaluate contract economics and ensure profitability.
- Operational Support:
- Support the development and maintenance of KPIs, financial metrics, and operational performance dashboards.
- Oversee banking operations and money movement.
- Ensure robust controls are in place for online account management.
- Work cross-functionally with leadership, operations, and clinical teams to inform data-driven decision-making.
- Actively contribute to the achievement of organizational goals and strategic vision.
- Technology & Systems:
- Utilize advanced Excel skills to develop financial models, dashboards, and reporting tools.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field (CPA required).
- 5+ years in financial leadership, with a focus on healthcare or risk-bearing organizations (Medicare Advantage experience preferred, not required).
- Technical Skills: Expertise in financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Software Knowledge: Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and advanced Excel.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with NAIC filing requirements, healthcare financial regulations, and IBNR methodologies (preferred not required)
