Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and collaborative individual to join our dynamic Policy Team. As a Special Education Policy Coordinator, you will play a vital role in ensuring the interpretation, implementation, and compliance of federal, state, and district policies. Your primary responsibilities will include providing professional development, ongoing support, and resources for (Exceptional Children's Automated Tracking System) and policy implementation. Additionally, you will support school-based and staff through various means such as conducting audits, offering professional learning opportunities, and providing direct assistance in the creation, monitoring, and documentation of compensatory services.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with the Policy Team to interpret and implement policies effectively.

Provide professional development sessions and ongoing support for and policy implementation.

Support school-based and staff by developing and deploying resources, conducting audits, offering professional learning sessions, and providing direct support in creating, monitoring, and documenting compensatory services.

Assist in compiling data for federal.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

Extensive understanding of federal, state, and local policies and procedures related to monitoring and auditing special education records.

Considerable familiarity with agencies providing services for children with special needs.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote), Adobe Acrobat products, and cloud-based environments like Google Apps.

Strong consultation, collaboration, and coaching skills.

Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Ability to work independently and within a team.

Capacity to establish and maintain effective relationships with various stakeholders.

Education, Training, And Experience

Bachelor's degree in special education or related field.

Five years of successful teaching experience in special education.

Hold or be eligible to hold a North Carolina Professional Educator's license in special education.

Valid motor vehicle operator's license according to North Carolina requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree from an accredited institution.

Experience in school-based leadership.

Familiarity applications and programs.

Considerable knowledge and experience.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Prepare timely data reports for submission to NCDPI.

Develop and/or present professional development sessions on policies, procedures, and usage.

Oversee 90-day timelines and child count completion.

Collaborate with school-based and staff to secure, monitor, and support compensatory services plans.

Participate in auditing confidential records for compliance with policies and procedures.

Contribute to the development of compliance resources.

Complete assigned tasks aligning responsibilities.

Provide ongoing support regarding policies and procedures to special education teachers and staff.

Utilize various software and technologies to manipulate, analyze, and display data.

Develop internal processes for maintaining documentation efficiently.

Support and special education teachers through innovative technologies.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements

This role operates in a professional office environment with mostly low to moderate noise levels. Standard office equipment such as computers, fax machines, scanners, and copiers are routinely used. Some interaction with school system staff is required. The position involves light physical work and may require driving automotive equipment. Travel to schools, central services offices, and other locations.
