The Coordinator, Corporate Compliance promotes standards and healthcare practices that are in compliance with the rules and regulations as they are set by the states in which the company operates. This position supports the efforts of the Company to develop streamlined processes within the Compliance Department related to policy and procedure development, third-party audits, compliance auditing and monitoring, and work plan management. This position also includes development and implementation of specific workplans for compliance auditing, as assigned, within various service lines of the organization.
Essential Functions:
Education / Experience:
Subject to many interruptions. Occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries. This position can be high paced and stressful; must be able to cope mentally and physically to atmosphere. Work requires spending approximately 90% or more of the time inside a building that offers protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
Essential Functions:
- Serves as the policy coordinator for the Compliance Department.
- Participates in the development of compliance workplans for various services lines within the organization as directed by the Director, Corporate Compliance. Emphasis will be placed on auditing and monitoring functions. Workplans will be developed based on review of industry-wide compliance risk areas for each level of care.
- Executes assigned compliance workplans for various services lines within the organization as directed the by Director, Corporate Compliance.
- Provides education to the organization related to use of compliance practices and systems.
- Develops detailed reports specifying compliance issues identified during the audits. Cites appropriate regulations in a manner consistent with standard practice in compliance auditing.
- Conducts follow-up audits and monitoring as indicated based on results of previous findings and scheduled workplans.
- Manages, responds and initiates investigations, if indicated, to Compliance Hotline inquiries.
- Communicates findings to the Director, Corporate Compliance, VP, Compliance & Accreditation, Compliance Officer and Operational leadership according to a predetermined method.
- Serves as a resource for the organization as it relates to Compliance policies and processes.
- Completes other assigned duties under the direction of the Director, Corporate Compliance.
Education / Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in compliance, preferably in the healthcare field.
- Experience in performing healthcare audits and monitoring functions preferred.
- Demonstrates strong computer skills to navigate MS office products and electronic compliance software solutions.
- Knowledge and understanding of CMS and State Department of Health and Hospitals regulations.
- Knowledge of reimbursement systems pertaining the organization’s service lines, health documentation, coding and billing.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrates personal traits of a high level of integrity, team orientation, professionalism, and trustworthiness.
- Places a high value on ethical standards and treating others with dignity and respect.
- Maintains compliance with all Company policies and procedures.
- Strict adherence to the Company code of Conduct.
- Attends all mandatory education programs and can describe their responsibilities related to general safety and regulatory compliance.
- Attire is professional, neat, clean and appropriate for the work environment.
- Maintains confidentiality of all facility and patient information at all times, as observed by peers and management.
