You've built your career coaching students — not instructing them. You understand the distinction: coaching means connecting, pushing boundaries, and refusing to accept anything less than a student's full potential. Instruction is about delivering information. You've never been an information delivery mechanism.

Alpha operates the most non-traditional school model you'll encounter. Students don't fill classroom seats listening to lectures. They progress independently through AI-driven learning platforms. AI manages the academic instruction. Your responsibility is to facilitate life skills sessions that capture the attention of K-8 learners, lead motivational check-ins that drive them toward their weekly progress benchmarks, and maintain standards when students attempt to disengage. The curriculum runs itself. You manage the relational component.

This position offers meaningful upward trajectory, and that trajectory is defined by greater student influence. Those who reliably achieve performance targets (100% cohort achievement of weekly app milestones, satisfaction ratings above 90%) advance into Lead Guide positions where they mentor other educators to improve their effectiveness. Students remain the focus.

What You Will Be Doing

• Facilitating one-hour life skills sessions with K-8 students on topics including public speaking, concentration, and peer feedback exchange
• Administering Test2Pass mastery evaluations following each session to verify students have authentically acquired the skill, not merely attended
• Leading daily motivational sessions using student profiles, personal interests, and Coachbot data to ensure 100% of your cohort reaches their weekly app progression targets
• Leveraging narrative techniques, reward systems (school currency, performance leaderboards), and individual relationships to overcome student reluctance
• Monitoring cohort satisfaction metrics toward a 90%+ benchmark on student feedback surveys
  
  

What You Won’t Be Doing

• Delivering traditional classroom lectures. Students progress academically via self-paced AI-driven platforms, not through direct instruction from you.
• Passive supervision. The environment involves students using computers; the role requires active facilitation.
• Compromising standards in response to student resistance. Test2Pass expectations remain firm, even when students face difficult weeks.
• Creating curriculum materials independently. Lesson frameworks and workshop guides are supplied; your role is to execute them with the presence and narrative skill that ensures genuine student learning.
• Handling parent communications, admissions processes, or campus administration. Those functions belong to different positions.
  
  

Counselor Key Responsibilities

Guide a cohort of K-8 students to achieve 100% of their weekly academic targets while facilitating life skills workshops that maintain satisfaction scores of 90% or higher.

Basic Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in any discipline
• Minimum 3 years of direct experience working with K-8 (elementary and middle school) students
• Strong storytelling and facilitation skills — capable of sustaining children's engagement for one-hour sessions
• Willingness to work on-site at the Alpha campus located in Brownsville, TX
• Authorization to work legally in the US without requiring visa sponsorship

• Experience as a sports coach, camp counselor, or youth program leader
• Demonstrated history of strong performance in competitive settings (academic, athletic, or professional)

Working with us

This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $50 USD/hour, which equates to $100,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
