Position Summary:

The Director of Operations TCR (Taco Cranston) is responsible for the manufacturing and warehouse activities of the TCR facility. This role oversees the Production Supervisors and Warehouse Manager to ensure customer commitments are met and production targets and shipping goals are achieved. They ensure coordination of the production cells, optimal use of the production and warehouse labor force, inventory accuracy of finished goods and raw material, as well as accurate shipping of finished goods. The Director of Operations also directs and leads continuous improvement teams.

Measures of success:

  • % production schedule attainment
  • % on-time delivery to targeted goals
  • Execute an annual expense budget and track monthly variance
  • Total daily dollars shipped versus budget

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Offers guidance and strategic oversight to Production Supervisors and Warehouse Manager, ensuring alignment of production processes with organizational goals, optimal inventory management, and streamlined warehouse operations for efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Leads the production and warehouse teams to ensure adequate staffing levels and resources commensurate with the level of business are properly allocated and sustained.
  • Directs and works with Production Supervisors and Warehouse Manager to ensure all required monthly production schedules and shipping targets are accurately achieved.
  • Works closely with the Master Production Scheduler to develop rough-cut capacity plans for current and future resource demand planning.
  • Ensures customer issues are addressed by the team in a timely and complete fashion in order to continuously improve service levels to customers.
  • Ensures that all team members adopt practices that prioritize safety and adhere to compliance and regulatory standards.
  • Meets financial objectives by forecasting expenses each period, preparing an annual budget, analyzing variances, and taking corrective actions to stay on plan.
  • Continually drives improvement on maximizing dollars shipped and meeting customer commitments.

People Management

  • Evaluates team members to identify strengths and opportunities for improvement; collaborate on development actions and ensure resources necessary to complete actions
  • Cascades relevant and appropriate information about the company and department effectively and in a timely manner
  • Coaches and mentors for skill and knowledge development
  • Executes necessary responsibilities of team during absences or alternate engagement
  • Ensures team adheres to company policies, practices, and department standards
  • Assigns actions and ensure completion
  • Reviews work quality and provides feedback and guidance to team

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or Operations Management
  • 15+ years of experience in manufacturing
  • 10+ years of managerial or supervisory experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Power BI, and data analytics
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
  • Knowledge of equipment and processes in a manufacturing environment
  • Prior experience in operations and / or warehouse environment
  • Knowledge and understanding of Lean Manufacturing methodologies
  • Experience in annual budgeting and cost control monitoring
  • Experience in managing internal and external quality issues and driving to root cause and corrective action
  • Effective leadership and change management skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Travel limited to other company sites, trade shows, conferences, etc

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration
  • Lean Six Sigma certification

Work Environment

This position works in both an office environment using computers and technology and a production floor environment where large equipment and noise are prevalent. Verbal and auditory capability are required. Safety gear is required in production areas.

This position reports into the site every day and may be able to work from home on an ad hoc basis.
