Overview
The Open Banking team is looking for a Director, Legal Compliance, supporting our lending products and Consumer Reporting Agency requirements. The ideal candidate is passionate about consumer empowerment, efficient process implementation and consumer control of their financial data. They will also bring a deep understanding of US credit reporting, regulatory requirements for US Credit Reporting Agencies and operational excellence

Role
  • Design, implement and maintain US Open Banking risk management and compliance strategy and program, as it relates to UDAAP, FCRA, GLBA, state requirements and other applicable laws.
  • Align compliance strategy and priorities with Senior Management and business Board of Directors
  • Assess Compliance Risk Appetite as it relates to FCRA, UDAAP, related regulations and advise on appropriate actions to address areas outside of risk appetite through review of risks, controls, MIS and operational dashboards for compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and assess risk, vulnerabilities, and opportunities for efficient and effective risk coverage
  • Execute strategic priorities for the compliance program including maintaining US Open Banking policies, risk assessment, and other related activities to ensure compliance program is maintained and enhanced over time
  • Manage a team of Compliance professionals. Develop, attract and retain talent; recommending staffing levels required to carry out the department’s role and responsibilities.
  • Translate US Open Banking compliance strategy and goals across customers, products and geographies
  • Represent US Open Banking on critical regulatory matters. Collaborate with other internal partners including Legal, Regulatory, Technology, and others to address compliance issues.
  • Analyze data, prepare and present regional/global reports related to compliance risk assessments
  • Oversee development of compliance materials and resources for employees, customers and third parties. Create training decks and materials, and lead training sessions.
  • Assist in efforts to communicate and ensure the business remains compliant with applicable laws and regulations and any associated changes.
  • Oversee complaint and disputes program, including identification, response, reporting, and analytics
  • Ensure models are compliant with FCRA and applicable company policies and standards
  • Prepare periodic reporting and present materials to management and/or the Board
  • Identify and implement technology solutions to streamline manual reviews
  • Maintain subject matter expertise and ongoing awareness of requirements of applicable consumer laws and industry best practices (Including but not limited to GLBA, UDAAP, FCRA, and other related laws and regulations), risks and appropriate controls
  • Participate in industry groups and trade association working groups or other forums.

  • Expertise of Compliance laws, rules, regulations, risks and typologies
  • Proficiency in consumer regulations required (e.g., FCRA, UDAAP, GLBA, etc.) and BSA/AML/OFAC
  • Strong knowledge of Compliance/Risk & Controls concepts and functions within financial services
  • Highly motivated, strong attention to detail, team oriented, organized
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, adapting to unexpected changes in expectations or requirements
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office products, particularly Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Project
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • People leadership skills, including the fostering of a positive and cohesive team through coaching, mentoring, and the development of staff
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with peers, colleagues and other stakeholders
  • Bachelor’s degree and any of the following: experience in compliance, legal or other control-related function in financial services, regulatory organization, or legal/consulting firm, or a combination thereof;
  • Advanced degree preferred
  • CRCM, CAMS or other compliance certifications preferred
