Your Job
Georgia Pacific's Consumer Products Group is looking for candidates for an Electrical and Instrumentation (E & I) Technician position at our Muskogee, OK Tissue, Towel, and Napkin Mill. The role involves collaborating with supervisors, mentors, coworkers, and others to develop knowledge and skills in our manufacturing environment, ensuring the mill’s electrical and mechanical requirements are met. Compensation ranges from $26.00 to $37.64 per hour, depending on experience. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, from 7 AM to 3 PM, with potential for holiday, weekend, and overtime work as needed.
The ideal candidate will foster an environment that prioritizes zero incidents in Environmental, Health and Safety, assist the facility in achieving or surpassing production and quality targets, provide daily written and verbal reports on work performed and machine conditions, execute a variety of maintenance tasks related to assembly and repairs, conduct electronic, mechanical, and electromechanical tests on electronic systems, subassemblies, and parts to ensure they function as specified or identify the cause of failures. The role requires performing tasks that involve lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, pushing, and pulling for 8 hours a day, and working in elevated and confined spaces.
Our Team
Located on the Kerr-McClellan Navigational Channel (Arkansas River) on about 640 acres of land, the Muskogee consumer products operation spans across approximately 70 acres (or 2,900,000 square feet) of manufacturing and warehouse space are "under roof" employing approximately 830 employees. We are the second largest employer in the Muskogee, OK area and 45th in the state! Our non-union facility operates on 12-hour shifts, 7 days per week, 365 days per year. The site housing 2 of the 13 largest tissue machines in the world and paper machines that produce an average of 900 tons of paper per day. Our finished product consists of a mix of 40% Retail and 60% Commercial.

What You Will Do
- Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical equipment and systems to maintain expected machine performance
- Inspect machinery to identify issues or reliability/production gaps
- Fabricate metal parts such as brackets and covers using blueprints and designs sketches to ensure proper dimensions and tolerance levels of finished product
- Work with and troubleshoot AC and DC voltages ranging from 24 volts to 13200 volts
- Perform preventive maintenance and inspection routes that help to maintain and improve machine reliability
- Troubleshoot, AC/DC Drives, PLC Controls, DCS, and Machine Interfaces
- Test electrical lines, transformers, and other power distribution equipment, using devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, megohmmeters, oscilloscopes and chart recorders
- Inspect, clean, calibrate, and maintain low and medium voltage distribution equipment
- Read/interpret hydraulic prints, pneumatic diagrams, blueprints technical manuals, single line electrical drawings, schematics, electrical ladder diagrams, ladder logic and instrument loop drawings
- Associate/Technical degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Systems, Instrumentation, or Electronic Technology or two (2) years or more of Electrical/Electronic/Control installation and troubleshooting experience in a manufacturing or military environment
- Experience reading and following electrical and maintenance schematics/blueprints
- Experience utilizing electrical test devices such as Ammeters, Voltmeters, and Ohmmeters
- Experience with computers utilizing MS Word and Excel
- Experience in technical and Industrial Control Systems: (PLCs, DCS equipment, motor controls, control valves, industrial instrumentation for positioning)
- Experience in Fanuc or Industrial Robotics experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience working within a Power Plant, Pulp and Paper, Converting, Palletizing, and/or Automation Equipment operations
- Experience with instrumentation and controls loops
- Experience with Servos and Servo Controllers
- Experience with PLC programming logic and troubleshooting equipment while online with the PLC
- Experience with systems integration to include advanced PLC troubleshooting experience and understanding Arrays and Servo control within the PLC logic
- Experience with HMI Programming
- Bachelor's degree or Higher in Electrical or Instrumentation technology
- Five (5) or more years of manufacturing or industrial experience inspecting, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and maintaining electrical and Instrumentation equipment
