- Parker Meggitt, a recent addition to Parker Hannifin, is a global leader in the Commercial and Military Aerospace markets, specializing in a wide range of products including fire and smoke detection systems, extinguishing systems, bleed air overheat detection systems, actuators, rudder pedal assemblies, pumps, fuel gauging systems, and high-temperature cables. Located in Simi Valley, CA, this site is within the Fire Safety & Power Systems Division (FSPSD) and is a key supplier in select energy markets, particularly in nuclear gas analyzers and nuclear containment vessel penetration cables. We work directly with some of the largest aerospace companies in the world, including Airbus, Boeing, Embraer, and Lockheed Martin, among others.
The Embedded Software Engineer I designs, develops and debugs software, working in small teams to solve problems and explore technologies for new and existing core products.
Job Core Responsibilities
- Applies software standards and utilizes specifications to design, develop, integrate and test safety-critical software applications using standard and model-based development methodologies and tools.
- Authors design documentation and develops drivers for embedded devices, including microcontrollers and associated peripherals.
- Communicates status of work to supervisor or mentor. Performs, tracks and controls internal project activities. Creates periodical status reports for key functions
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities, including standardization of tools and processes.
- Works as part of a software engineering team using source control concepts
- Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance
Education
A bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering or even Electrical Engineer degrees is required with relevant experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations.
Skills
- Experience using C at a low level (microcontrollers, drivers, interacting with hardware, etc…)
- C programming language
- Ability to solve problems using a systematic and analytical approach
- Fundamental knowledge of engineering domain principles, concepts, and techniques
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- The wage range for this role considers allowances for a number of factors, including but not limited to required experience, skill level, prior training, licensure/certifications, education, and other business needs. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $59,138 - Mid: $77,306 - $95,473
