General Summary

Under direct or close supervision, employees of this technical class perform duties such as: updating maps, signs, and/or design drawings; communicating with the public and departments; conducting research; reading and/or interpreting maps, sign specs, blueprints, survey documents, or sketches; proofing or comparing the information contained on maps/drawings/signs with information from different sources; measuring distances, areas, perimeters, heights, and angles; and using computer applications to enter, query information. Performs a wide variety of mapping and engineering support activities as listed above or performs a specific function on a full-time basis. Employees may meet with other County and non-County personnel as work assignments dictate. On a technical level, may assist in resolving reported problems in the field. May be exposed to field conditions and confined spaces. Utilizes current county-wide and/or department specific software to complete assignments.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be a high school graduate or have a certificate of successful completion of the General Education Development Test.
  • Have had at least three (3) months of full-time experience performing or assisting with mapping, engineering, community planning, surveying, property assessing, or architectural work.

NOTE: One (1) year of coursework from an accredited college or university in an engineering curriculum may substitute for the experience described above.

  • Possess a valid Michigan motor vehicle operator’s or chauffeur’s license.

Special Requirements

Must maintain a valid Michigan motor vehicle operator's or chauffeur's license.

Pay Range

USD $41,039.00 - USD $54,985.00 /Yr.
