Purpose
The Director of Engineering at Trillium Flow Technologies is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing the engineering function across the region. This position plays a critical role in driving innovation, enhancing product development, and ensuring operational excellence. The Director will lead a team of engineers to deliver high-quality solutions that meet market demands and align with the company’s growth objectives.

Key Responsibilities
Including but not limited to:
- Strategic Leadership & Vision: Provide strategic leadership and direction for the engineering teams across North America, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and business strategies. Inspire and motivate the engineering team to deliver exceptional results that align with the company's long-term vision.
- Innovation & AI-Driven Improvement: Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement by promoting collaboration, knowledge sharing, and the adoption of best practices. Leverage AI and machine learning technologies to optimize product design, development, and testing processes, driving efficiencies and enabling data-driven decision-making.
- AI-Enhanced Engineering Strategy & Productivity: Develop and implement engineering strategies and processes that enhance productivity, reduce costs, and improve product performance and reliability. Utilize AI-driven tools to streamline design, accelerate time-to-market, and improve overall product development cycles, ensuring engineering efforts are both efficient and scalable.
- AI in Process Improvement: Lead efforts to incorporate AI tools in process improvement initiatives, including predictive maintenance, automated testing, and data analysis to optimize manufacturing processes. Drive the use of AI for real-time process monitoring, allowing for proactive adjustments that improve quality, reduce downtime, and enhance overall productivity.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with senior management and cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, and operations, to identify market trends, customer needs, and opportunities for new product development. Provide engineering insights and AI-based solutions to guide business decision-making and support product innovation.
- Resource & Budget Management: Oversee the engineering budget, resource allocation, and project timelines, ensuring efficient use of resources and alignment with business priorities. Leverage AI-driven project management tools to track progress, manage risk, and optimize resource utilization.
- Talent Development & Mentorship: Lead talent development initiatives within the engineering teams, including recruitment, training, mentorship, and performance management. Encourage the integration of AI knowledge and skills into the team’s capabilities, fostering a high-performing, motivated workforce that is adept at utilizing advanced technologies.
- Stakeholder Relationships & Compliance: Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, and regulatory agencies, to ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and customer expectations. Ensure that AI applications comply with relevant standards and guidelines.
- Engineering Performance Monitoring: Monitor and analyze engineering performance metrics using AI-powered analytics tools, providing regular reports to senior management on project status, resource utilization, and areas for improvement. Utilize data-driven insights to guide future engineering efforts and optimize team performance.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure adherence to safety standards and ISO 9001/14001 requirements in all engineering activities, promoting a culture of safety and accountability within the team.
- Other Responsibilities: Adhere to the company’s code of conduct, time and attendance policies, and other company procedures. Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical or a related field); a Master’s degree or MBA is preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in engineering management or leadership roles within the manufacturing sector, preferably in fluid handling or pump technologies.
- Proven track record of successfully leading engineering teams and managing complex projects from concept to completion.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles, product development processes, and manufacturing practices.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on driving innovation and operational excellence.
- A Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is preferred but not required; equivalent qualifications and experience will be considered.
