Purpose of Role

This position will work in the areas of Academic Support, Compliance, and Community Service Engagement. This position will help with monitoring NCAA eligibility of student-athletes, assist in student-athlete academic certifications, work on special projects, and learn the inner workings of a compliance office. Additionally, this position will help in monitoring the academic performance of all student-athletes, while assisting with session support of the CAUSE program.

The selected applicant will receive a tuition waiver for up to 18 graduate credits for the 2024-2025

academic calendar year. The applicant will be responsible for the costs of any fees and books associated with the program. This position is renewable for the next academic year conditional upon satisfactory

performance, availability of funds, and adherence to all Daemen University academic requirements and employment protocols. The selected person will be required to work a minimum of 20 hours per week during the term of appointment. The individual selected for the position may also be expected to cover a minimum of 5 hours of responsibilities assigned in event operations, facility management, and any other duties as assigned.

About This Opportunity

Joining our Athletics team, the Graduate Assistant - Student-Athlete Success / Compliance will be responsible for the following:

  • Hold scheduled office hours to assist with academic meetings and support.
  • Proctor study hall.
  • Assist with the CAUSE program.
  • Work with the Student-Athlete-Advisory-Committee to assist with meetings, activities, and events.
  • Assist with the day-to-day operations of the compliance department.
  • Assist with tracking the NCAA eligibility of student athletes.
  • Assist with monitoring that the department is following the NCAA rules.
  • Assist with special events and projects within the Division of Athletics.
  • Assist with social media and event advertising.
  • Develop base knowledge about NCAA bylaws pertaining to recruiting, eligibility, and playing seasons.
  • Performs other duties as

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Ability to work with a diverse population.
  • Ability to work both traditional and non-traditional business hours including Sundays and

evenings.

  • Ability to receive telephone calls/emails, respond to inquiries, and communicate with others by

telephone/email.

  • General interest in sports and a working knowledge of rules and regulations for college athletics.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google applications.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Proficient in the use and maintenance of various social media platforms including Facebook,

Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram.

  • Ability to drive a personal or university vehicle for the purpose of university business.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Admission into a post graduate program at Daemen University is required.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency.
