$104,400.00The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc. is seeking an experienced candidate to fill a full time Grant Development Specialist position. This position will support scientists and staff at the Institute for Basic Research in Developmental Disabilities (IBR) through the full grant lifecycle, from application and subcontract preparation through post-award compliance and reporting. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced pre-award environment, manages multiple applications simultaneously, is flexible in meeting strict grant submission deadlines, and communicates effectively with Institute scientists and administrators as well as external grants administrators.Duties and Responsibilities:Pre-award:

  • Identify sponsor announcements for grant applications, and analyze and interpret application requirements, to be able to guide principal investigators.
  • Prepare grant application forms in sponsor portals, in collaboration with principal investigators and according to program announcements and sponsors application guidelines.
  • Coordinate preparation of subcontract applications with IBR principal investigators and external organizations grants staff.
  • In coordination with IBR Grants Budget Office, review budgets for grant applications and contracts.
  • Review grant application and subcontract materials for compliance with sponsor guidelines.
  • Assist scientists in preparing grant application materials (e.g., biosketches and Other Support). Involves monitoring and interpreting current requirements and providing training on updates.
  • Monitor evolving NIH and other sponsor policies, processes, and grant application requirements, including program announcements, application guides, and federal Uniform Guidance, 2 CFR 200 rules.Post-award:Coordinate preparation of:
  • Post-submission materials about grant applications for NIH
  • No-cost extensions for grant awards
  • Grant progress reports and final reportsMinimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in life sciences, public health, business administration, or a related field
  • Three years of grant administration experience. Two years experience preparing, validating, and submitting NIH grant applications using NIH ASSIST.

Two years experience using eRA Commons to manage application statuses, Just-in-Time (JIT) responses, and Research Performance Progress Reports (RPPRs). One year's experience with SciENcv (National Library of Medicine) to train and assist researchers with preparing NIH biosketches and Other Support documents, and with eBRAP to help prepare Department of Defense CDMRP applications.Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in life sciences, public health, business administration, or a related field with two years of grant administration experience.
  • Experience managing multiple grant projects simultaneously.
  • Working knowledge of Proposal Central and Research.gov (NSF)Skills:
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and comply with grant regulations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills.
