BakerHostetler is seeking an experienced graphic designer to join our in-house Graphics team. The ideal candidate should have a portfolio demonstrating strong creative concepts and eye-catching visuals.

The Designer will conceptualize, design and implement solutions for a wide variety of publications, digital and multi-media applications, and firm-branded presentations for management and client events. The Designer should have proven experience with graphic production best practices for digital and print, as well as exhibit skill with typography, color and layout principles. The Graphic Designer coordinates with Business Development & Marketing department colleagues, firm leadership and attorneys to design pieces that are compelling and have a distinguished yet consistent look within the Firm’s brand standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Work with Graphics team colleagues to conceptualize and develop print and digital marketing collateral used to promote the Firm’s brand including publications, presentations, social media, client alerts, thought leadership pieces, brochures, pitch materials, electronic communications, external Practice Group newsletters, invitations, charts, forms, photo production/editing, advertisements and video using Adobe Creative Suite, PowerPoint and other tools.
  • Digital newsletter design
  • Social media graphics
  • Create cohesive event materials including PowerPoint presentations, invitations and signage
  • Photo editing, management and file organization. Familiarity with digital asset management preferred.
  • Ability to create and edit videos for various projects including social media and website using Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Manage deadlines for both short-term and long-term assignments
  • Familiarity with data merging using Adobe and Microsoft products
  • Has a keen interest in staying abreast of contemporary tools and technologies like AI.
  • Respond to requests and questions from lawyers, administrative staff and vendors on design production; provide excellent customer service and follow through on requests to ensure needs are met.
  • Manage workflow and scheduling to ensure quality, on-time delivery of final product in all stages of the process: conceptualization, design, layout, production and fulfillment
  • Ensure the Firm materials are consistent with the Firm’s visual identity system and brand guidelines.
  • Provide support as needed within team and assist with special projects as assigned.

Education/Experience

Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or related field; and a minimum of 5 years of experience.

Technical Skills

Demonstrated proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, in particular InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Premiere Pro, and Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Outlook and Excel). Proven aptitude to learn new software applications.

  • Strong project management skills. Project and team management experience with attention to detail and a willingness to “roll up sleeves” and operate at whatever level is needed to accomplish tasks.

Ability to effectively present information in both written and oral formats and respond to questions from all levels of professional and support staff and clients.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area and circumference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, such as probability, statistical inference and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Exhibit independent thinking and decision making.
