Position Purpose

The Human Resources Director is responsible for developing and implementing HR strategies managing employee relations, overseeing talent acquisition and development, ensuring compliance with labor laws , and guiding the HR team to align with organizational goals.

Essential Functions

Develop and maintain company-wide HR policies, procedures and employee information.

Assist in developing and implementing various Human Resources policies and procedures and provide policy guidance to managers and employees.

Contribute to maintaining employee handbooks including updating legal requirements, and multiple collective bargaining agreements.

Talent Management

Oversee recruitment, hiring, and onboarding processes.

Manage employee performance, conduct performance reviews, and address performance issues.

Develop and implement training and development programs.

Employee Relations

Manage employee relations, addressing employee concerns and resolving conflicts.

Foster a positive and inclusive work environment.

Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations.

Compensation And Benefits

Develop and manage compensation and benefits programs.

Ensure that compensation and benefits are competitive and compliant with legal

requirements.

Leadership & Team Management

Lead and manage the HR team, providing guidance, coaching, and development

opportunities.

Collaborate with senior management to align HR practices with organizational goals.

Data Analysis And Reporting

Analyze HR data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.

Prepare reports and presentations as needed.

Effectively utilize HRIS systems including data entry, report generation and data interpretation and analysis.

Skills, Knowledge, And Qualifications

HR Expertise: In-depth knowledge of HR principles, practices, and laws.

A minimum of seven years’ experience managing a Human Resources department in a manufacturing environment is required.

Bachelor’s degree in human resources, in a related field, or compensatory closely related work experience in lieu of degree, is required.

Prior Experience In a Union Environment Is Preferred.

Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state employment laws and other government compliance regulations.

The ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and / or independently including driving them to closure is required and to consistently meet deadlines.

Strong attention to detail to analyze data and make recommendations for improvement is essential.

Leadership & Management: Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and implement HR strategies that align with business goals.

Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve complex HR issues.

Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze data and identify trends.

Compliance: Knowledge of employment laws and regulations.

Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with HR software and system

Capable of making presentations and leading communications meetings as needed.

Physical Requirements

  • Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and making fine discriminations in sound.
  • Visual Acuity: Able to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.

The employee will be required to use all personal protective equipment provided by the company in compliance with OSHA regulations.
