HR Generalist

The Human Resources Generalist is an entry-level position responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level. The HR Generalist will work closely with other members of the HR team supporting the overall mission of the organization. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: onboarding, recruitment/employment, payroll, employee relations and employment law compliance. This position will report to the Human Resources Director.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll Administration

  • Prepare and maintain related payroll records, changes and reports
  • Provide support for all Payroll and HRMS. Research and resolve problems, perform/schedule activities, and liaison with service providers
  • Document workflow and work procedures.

Benefits Administration

  • Assist employees with their benefits inquiry including loan applications
  • Process employee enrollments and terminations as required
  • Prepare and maintain related benefits records and reports
  • Assist HR Manager with facilitating periodic and regular benefit plan evaluations an changes including plan analysis, contract review and employee communications
  • Assist HR Manager with administration of Paid Time Off, Short Term Disability and Leave of Absence programs
  • Document workflow and work procedures

HR Recruitment/Administration

  • Assists in all recruitment activities including but not limited to identifying an implementing recruiting strategies, updating job descriptions, internal and external posting, candidate screening, interviewing, developing and delivering job offers. May include representing the company at job fairs
  • Provides new employees orientation and onboarding i.e., (follow-up items, background checks, testing, etc.)
  • Maintains personnel files

The HR Generalist may perform any of these duties:

  • Employee data maintenance including personnel file maintenance, processing employment changes and updates, pay adjustments and file auditing
  • Manages the administration of the policies, procedures and programs of the organization
  • Conduct exit interviews or conduct post-employment survey to separated employees; analyzes the data and presents summaries to HR Manager
  • Conduct employee relations investigations and implement appropriate resolutions
  • Support global team initiatives across all sites
  • Prepare and submit monthly KPI reports to local and global teams
  • Assist in conducting compensation surveys as directed
  • Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment
  • Workers comp administration support
  • Assist with 5S audits, recycling program, and safety trainings
  • Provide support and guidance during annual performance review
  • Other duties as assigned i.e., event planning (anniversaries, company functions, HR calendar items)

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED. Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 3 years of experience working in a human resources department or any combination of education and experience
  • Computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office - Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must be able to prioritize activities to maximize positive impact for Associates and business
  • Payroll experience (ADP) preferred
  • SAP Successfactors experience preferred
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to sit at a desk for prolonged periods of time and work on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at time
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities
