If you need assistance or have questions regarding the application process, contact Human Resources Hotline at (775) 673-7431 or [email protected] Job Description The Human Resources (HR) Office at the Desert Research Institute (DRI) in Reno, NV is seeking a customer-friendly, motivated self-starter who can quickly pick-up, retain and utilize procedural concepts to support the HR staff. This part-time position is a great way to learn all aspects of HR through supporting a highly educated and engaged employee population. Due to the diversity and high-volume nature of our department, the successful applicant must be flexible within their daily duties and eager to perform their post effectively Duties include:
  • Operating multi-line phones, assisting callers, and taking detailed messages using professional communications and etiquette
  • Accurate and timely completion of financial related tasks in Workday (e.g., p-card expense entry, purchase orders and renewals, etc.)
  • Creating recruitment materials utilizing Canva
  • Assisting with reviewing and compiling recruitment materials for search committees
  • Creating, typing, editing, and formatting documents and emails
  • Photocopying, scanning, faxing, and filing paper and electronic documents
  • Assist employees with requests for forms, information, and HR appointments
  • Compiling new hire packets, auditing, and updating personnel records
  • Distributing materials, mailing documents, and scanning files for archiving
  • Utilize MS Office programs, including Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned by HR staff
Required Qualifications
  • HS diploma or equivalent and one year of clerical/office/computer experience
  • Intermediate skills in MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet applications
  • Demonstrated experience handling and maintaining confidential information and communications with all levels of employees and team members
  • Must have strong customer service skills and reliability
  • Must be detail orientated, punctual, self-motivated, and highly organized
  • Excellent business professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to follow instructions, prioritize and organize tasks and workload from multiple staff members
  • Ability to multi-task and work with frequent interruptions and distractions
  • Strong collaborator with enthusiasm, positive attitude, and commitment to excellence
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current enrollment working toward a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, or other business-related field
  • Prior support of an HR office
  • Experience entering and quality checking information in a Human Resources Database
  • Project management support experience, including creating schedules, tracking, and reporting progress, working with team members to achieve milestones, organize e-filing
Compensation Grade $15/hour, no benefits Schedule Work hours are flexible around 20-25 hours per week, preferably a schedule that allows 4-5 hours per day between 8am – 5pm, M-F Physical Requirements This position requires the ability to frequently stoop, bend, kneel, stand, or sit for prolonged periods of time; requires the ability to lift, carry, and move up to 20 lbs Conditions of Employment: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check Exempt No Full-Time Equivalent 50.0% Required Attachment(s) Qualified individuals interested in this position must attach the following documents to the specified section of your Workday application.
