Human Resources Director

The Human Resources Director (HRD) serves as the strategic partner to operations managers within the company and is a member of the company Executive Team. The HRD will plan, lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the policies, activities, and staff of the HR department, ensuring implementation of the organization's mission and talent strategy. The HRD must be flexible and adaptable to change in a fast-paced organization.

What You’ll Do

  • Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organization's human resource compliance and strategy needs
  • Administers or oversees the administration of HR programs, and supervises HR staff
  • Utilize sound communication and interpersonal skills to ensure equity, understanding and compliance when counseling senior leadership, managers, and team members on employee relations issues, discipline, policies and procedures interpretation, HR compliance, etc
  • Ensure the HR team responds to all inquiries and situations regarding HR policies, procedures, programs, and employee relations issues, partnering with managers and/or senior leadership as appropriate
  • Work with managers to promptly and thoroughly investigate escalated HR issues and complaints, keeping the Executive Team informed on high-risk situations
  • Design, revise, and implement HR-related policies, information, and directives to all employees
  • Ensure recruitment and workforce planning meet operational needs. Partner with hiring managers to identify, evaluate and solve hiring challenges
  • Manage the company benefits programs and enrollments
  • Assess company training needs and develop training modules
    • For HR or other senior leaders to deliver to the manager team
    • For managers to deliver to their on-site team members
  • Develop and manage analytical data that evolves into actionable HR strategies
  • Maintain in-depth and current knowledge of all employment regulations and laws, and ensure that the company is in compliance
  • Maintain thorough documentation on all HR-related matters

  • At least 4-5 years of progressive Human Resources experience in hospitality or a related industry
  • Previous managerial responsibility is required
  • Skilled in working within a consultative team environment with strong ability to influence, exercise sound judgment, and make decisions
  • Effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by any party
  • Must be able to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of team members and clients in an attentive, courteous, and service-oriented manner
  • Proven ability to coach and influence operational leaders while balancing advocacy for all team members
  • Skilled at multitasking and prioritizing departmental functions to meet deadlines
  • Experienced in managing an HRIS and ATS (bonus points for familiarity with UKG Ready system)
  • Strong computer proficiency is needed, and familiarity with Google Business suite is helpful
  • Bachelor's degree in related field, or extensive HR and management experience
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred
  • Physical requirements
    • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
    • Frequent public transportation travel in the NYC metro area to visit company job sites
    • Be able to lift 15 pounds occasionally
