Summary: The Human Resources (HR) Specialist, is responsible for supporting compliance, coordination and the overall efficiency of human resources operations. This individual collaborates with employees and leadership to coordinate the day-to-day delivery of HR assistance with tact, confidentiality, professionalism and a sense of urgency. Builds trust.

Essential Duties:

  • Onboarding and Offboarding
    • Manage new hire activity including employment documentation; deliver orientation; facilitate introduction into assigned department.
    • Support continued onboarding including but not limited to safety, knowledge and understanding of policy and procedure, and benefits open enrollment.
    • Coordinate exit process for departing employees.
  • Employee Service
    • Serve as first point of contact for employees regarding HR-related matters.
    • Escalate concerns, complex and/or sensitive matters to appropriate staff for further action.
    • Maintain store signage including compliance, training, job openings and events.
    • Coordinate, and participate as necessary, in events such as training, employee engagement programs, culture-building activities and process improvements.
    • Foster a positive work environment, promoting employee engagement and satisfaction.
  • Data, Reporting and Payroll
    • Update and maintain accurate and confidential employment records, whether physical or electronic documents.
    • Ensure pre-payroll activities are approved; audit payroll; review for compliance and on-time adjustments; respond to payroll inquiries.
    • Generate HR reports and compile data to assist HR and company leadership in making informed decisions.
  • General Duties
    • Assist in development, implementation, and continuing compliance reviews of human resources policies.
    • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices.
    • Ensure compliance with data protection and privacy regulations.
    • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
    • Uphold, support, and promote all company policies and procedures.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, the individual in this position must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skills and ability required.

  • Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school required; Preferred: Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university preferred; with two to three years’ related HR experience and/or training. Or, equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HR software.
  • Ability to work with sensitive information while maintaining attention to detail and a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Excellent time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving, interpersonal skills, and negotiation tactics.
  • Valid Drivers License.
  • Travel up to 1/3 of on-the-job time.
  • Weight exerted up to 40 pounds.
