Basic Requirement For Supervisory Biologist, GS-0401:
Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in biology, or a related field of science underlying ecological research that included at least 30 semester hours in basic and applied biological sciences. These hours must have included at least 9 semester hours in ecology, and 12 semester hours in physical and mathematical sciences.
Basic Requirement For Supervisory Physical Scientist GS-1301:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience in ALL of the following areas: 1) experience processing complex and/or controversial Section 404, Clean Water Act (CWA), and Section 10, Rivers and Harbors Act (RHA) permits, to include review of environmental documents; 2) experience with wetland delineation in accordance with established methods to approve and complete complex Jurisdictional Determinations; 3) experience completing Regulatory permit enforcement and compliance actions and investigations; AND 4) experience mentoring/leading a team of professionals.(All four must be thoroughly and clearly documented in your resume to be considered for this position). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university. Duties
- Serve as the Regulatory Division Chief with full responsibility for managing, administering, and implementing the US Army Corps of Engineers Regulatory Program in the Walla Walla District.
- Improve and enhance the physical, biological and chemical integrity of the nation's water resources.
- Insure that regulated activities in waters are not contrary to the public interest, considering environmental, social and economic concerns.
- Manage the program in compliance with governing public laws, regulations, interagency agreements, and policies and guidance of higher headquarters.
- Senior technical advisor and consultant to the District Engineer and staff concerning all regulatory matters.
- Supervise the evaluation and processing of all applications for permits on waters of the U.S. throughout the Walla Walla District's area of responsibility.
- Exercise delegated resource management authority personally and through subordinates (supervisory and non-supervisory) to promote productivity, effective program and resource management, and high morale.
