About the position: As a Laboratory Technician, you will prepare histologic slides from tissue sections for microscopic examination and diagnosis by pathologists. Work is performed in accordance with standard laboratory practice under limited supervision.
What you'll do:
Education: Bachelor's or Associates degree from a four or two year-college or university with at least 12 semester hours biology and chemistry combined. ASCP certified in Histology, Medical Technology and or Cytology
Experience: One year Lab experience
Computer Skills: Proficient in MS Office
Position schedule is Monday-Friday 6am-3pm

What you'll do:
- Clinical Duties
- Responsible for day-to-day operations of Lab Services; specifically:
- Assess tissue adequacy for testing
- Precision microtomy in all areas inclusive of thick and thin sectioning
- Accurate identification of cellular areas of interest for electron microscopy image capture
- Perform quality control checks on materials produced
- Complete equipment maintenance and logs
- Troubleshoot—determine causes of operating errors and decide corrective course of action
- Controlling operations of equipment and staining procedures
- To monitor and assess individual performance with the aim of improvement or corrective action, while also ensuring your supervisor is informed
- Assist in lab for other duties as assigned
- Administrative Duties
- Maintenance of Lab logs and tracking sheets
- Requirements
- Follow the laboratory's pre-analytic and analytic procedures and maintain records of test
- Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens
- Follow the laboratory's policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established performance specifications
- Identify and document problems that may adversely affect test performance and notify the supervisor, administrative lead or lab manager
- Adhere to the laboratory's quality assurance procedures, including documenting all:
- Quality control activities
- Instrument and equipment verifications
- Maintenance and preventive maintenance
- Other Requirements
- All SOPs must be followed
- Any discrepancies, errors and/or deviation from the SOPs or Policies must be reported to the Lab Director, Lab Manager, Admin Lead and/or Lead
- Laboratory standards for clinical testing must be maintained
