As part of the Industrial Engineering – Lean team, The Lean Manufacturing facilitator will work closely with Manufacturing teams to be the primary lean champion for all areas of Manufacturing. Activities include facilitating and supporting production line management, Kaizens, and lean transformation projects (LTP’s).

The Lean Manufacturing Facilitator will be the primary instructor for all Lean Academy instruction for all areas of Manufacturing.

The Lean Manufacturing Facilitator will work closely with lean Engineers to employ principles of lean management to help Manufacturing teams identify areas for improvement and develop tactics for carrying out those improvements.

Specific Duties And Responsibilities

  • Provide Lean guidance for all areas of Manufacturing.
  • Conduct Lean Academy classes for all areas of Manufacturing
  • The Lean Manufacturing Facilitator will be responsible for advocating and enabling lean tools and methodologies across multiple production lines.
  • Understand and facilitate the Analysis of production data and KPIs to build foundationsfor Continuous Improvement; ensure improvement activities follow structured problemsolving methodology.
  • Mentor Lean Manufacturing teams: identifying and working to remove barriers that slow or prevent the successful operation of a Lean environment.
  • Define, measure and address deviations from the defined KPIs metrics across all areas of Penumbra Manufacturing
  • Passionately drive a lean culture and provide visibility and awareness across the business.
  • Adhere to the Company’s Quality Management System (QMS) as well as domestic and global quality system regulations, standards, and procedures.
  • Understand relevant security, privacy and compliance principles and adhere to the regulations, standards, and procedures that are applicable to the Company.
  • Ensure other members of the department follow the QMS, regulations, standards, and procedures.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years of experience in manufacturing of medical devices or related products, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in teaching/instructing a group of individual contributors.
  • Leadership experience managing Lean Manufacturing.
  • Manufacturing experience from a medical device, pharmaceutical, biotech, or other regulated industry
  • Must be creative, self-motivated, proactive, intuitive, organized, and flexible.
  • Proven leadership skills and business acumen; performance-driven
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills with the ability to interface and influence at all organizational levels.
  • Excellent understanding of data analytic and statistical tools, capable of explaining the underlying concepts and principles
  • Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple demanding tasks.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, work independently under pressure and maintain a positive and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Must be able to communicate and exchange accurate information with employees at all levels daily.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and build strong working relationships.
  • Proficiency with MS Office
  • Use of SAP and Camstar is a plus.
  • PMP Certification is a plus.
  • Lean Black Belt is a plus.

Working Conditions

  • General office, laboratory, and cleanroom environments
  • Willingness and ability to work on site. May have business travel from 0% - 25%
  • Potential exposure to blood-borne pathogens
  • Requires some lifting and moving of up to 25 pounds
  • Must be able to move between buildings and floors.
  • Must be able to remain stationary and use a computer or other standard office equipment, such as a printer or copy machine, for an extensive period of time each day.
  • Must be able to read, prepare emails, and produce documents and spreadsheets.
  • Must be able to move within the office and access file cabinets or supplies, as needed.

Starting Base Salary is $95,000 - $125,000

We offer a competitive compensation package plus a benefits and equity program, when applicable. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location.
