I. Job Summary

This position is responsible for the overall marketing of The International Center, including but not limited to maintaining the organizational website and social media presence, as well as creating materials to promote The Center’s programs, services, and fundraising activities which may include some evenings and weekends, with advance notice. The role serves as the administrator for The Festival Fund, a program that provides grants to local cultural groups who hold festivals to acquaint the public at large with the many cultures that make Indianapolis a special place to live, work, and play.

Ii. Essential Functions

  • Manages the marketing materials to promote The International Center and communicate its programs and services in Indianapolis and the State, including a monthly newsletter, strategic emails, social media, and promotional materials in digital and print media etc.
  • Assists with or manages event planning for events and activities such as development-focused meetings/events, The International Citizen of the Year, Annual Meeting, etc.
  • Maintains the organization’s website as needed with information such as donor recognition, calendar events and press releases; creates original web content; incorporates SEO tactics.
  • Manages Festival Fund grant: receives and reviews applications from organizations seeking funding; sends recommendations to grant committee; communicates with organizations the funding decisions and criteria for accepting funding; and maintains detailed records for grant reporting.
  • Completes additional projects as assigned.

Iii. Education And/Or Experience

Bachelor's degree related to the role from a four-year college or university and two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Iv. Reading/Writing Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Writing and editing skills must be outstanding and versatile, including the ability to author reports, business correspondence, social media and website content, newsletters, collateral materials, and media materials. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, the media, clients, customers, and the public in a timely manner.

V. Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.

Vi. Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

VII. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: (Languages spoken/written, etc.)

Additional language proficiency is a plus.

Previous experience in marketing nonprofits is desirable, including photography

Previous event management and community engagement experiences are helpful

Understanding the multicultural landscape and sensitivity is needed

Viii. Other Preferred Qualifications

  • Computer skills for MS Office with extensive knowledge of Outlook calendar
  • Experience with design software (Microsoft Publisher, Adobe Suite, In-Design, Canva, etc.)
  • Relevant CRM database experience, including report creation and administrative usage; familiarization with Neon One a bonus
  • Word Press website software experience
  • Experience recruiting and supervising volunteers and interns
  • Experience with event planning and coordination
  • Experience in a nonprofit setting, which may include supporting the development function and/or securing pro bono resources for specific needs (e.g., printing, photography, graphic design, etc.)
  • Excellent people skills
  • Experience with diverse and multicultural audiences
  • Ability to create “storytelling” strategies across social media platforms to highlight the work of organization
