Job Description:

The Manager Employee Engagement supports our Purpose by leading the Engagement Team in driving all Companywide engagement efforts, including Leadershi p engagement and operational engagement. This role also supports their Team in building an engagement strategy and consulting with other workgroups throughout Southwest to ensure consistent engagement across the Company. The Manager Employee Engagement is a strong people Leader and skilled communicator who is excited about the opportunity to develop their Team and make a meaningful impact on the Culture at Southwest Airlines.

Additional Details:
The culture of Southwest Airlines means we embrace a flexible workplace and value the camaraderie, collaboration, and innovation that occurs when we come together and interact face-to-face at our vibrant Corporate Campus. This role is a hybrid position based out of our Corporate Campus in Dallas, TX, which requires Employees to work onsite on our Corporate Campus at least three days a week. The Department designates the specific three days of the week Employees must work on-site.

Responsibilities
Develop individual Team Members by challenging Employee’s assumptions, providing direction without micromanaging, eliciting new insights and self-awareness, identifying habits holding them back, and supporting necessary changes
Maintain a deep and diverse bench by proactively looking for and developing talent, ensuring high-potential individuals know where they are on the succession plan, and maintain an active bench for key positions across functional area
Translate Company objectives into well-defined strategies, plans, priorities, and assignments for functional area and ensure that Team goals and practices are consistent with these objectives
Manage all risk associated with program, event, or initiative planning by identifying and forecasting pertinent problems, evaluating and recommending solutions, making time sensitive decisions, acting as on-site manager (when needed), and implementing the appropriate course of action to move forward and achieve goals
Develop and manage budgets for the Team by forecasting requirements, scheduling expenditures, administering to Team, analyzing variances, initiating corrective action, and continuously seeking ways to improve the financial standing of the program
Manage vendors, agencies, and contracts by establishing and maintaining relationships, tracking vendor performance, and holding parties accountable in order to ensure the quality, compliance, and cost efficiency of the work delivered
Strategize solutions to complex or escalated situations by identifying potential operational impacts, looking beyond merely expedient solutions, taking responsible risks, and making time sensitive decisions in order to move work forward
Create and deliver presentations to Leadership including business cases, proposals, program and/or event status reports, and process improvement recommendations, and provide consultative support regarding strategic objectives and tactical actions
May perform other job duties as directed by Employee’s Leaders
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
Knowledge of media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods, including alternative ways to inform and entertain via written, oral, and visual media
Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services, including marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems
Skilled in identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
Skilled in considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one
Skilled in motivating, developing, and directing people as they work, identifying the best people for the job
Skilled in managing one's own time and the time of others
Skilled in oral and written communication
Skilled in using Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to present in front of large and small groups and effectively teach other Team Members
Education

Required: High School Diploma or GED

Experience

Demonstrated experience in directly or indirectly leading team(s)

Fully functioning, broad knowledge in:
Developing and implementing programs or events with increasingly progressive levels of responsibility

Licensing/Certification

Physical Abilities

Ability to perform work duties from limited space workstation/desk/office area for extended periods of time

Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job

Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job

Other Qualifications

Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines

Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986

Must be at least 18 years of age

Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines

Travel and extended hours, including weekends, may be required

Pay & Benefits:
Competitive market salary from $118,600-131,800 per year * depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the
discretion of the company.
