The Satellite Mission Engineer is responsible for providing technical advice, engineering recommendations, satellite and ground subsystem analysis and evaluation for nominal/routine and non-routine/complex planning, operations and maintenance tasks (e.g., payload reconfigurations, operational resiliency, SW Maintenance and calibrations).
**Key Responsibilities: **
System Design And Development
- Support the development, implementation and update of operational concepts, processes and procedures for the AEHF/Milstar constellation.
- Support operational exercises during normal shifts of operation, within available resources
- Support analysis and resolution efforts for emergent issues until the satellite is placed in a safe state and/or mission is restored.
- Provide engineering support during mission execution, troubleshooting and resolving technical issues as they arise.
- Oversee the integration of complex systems and technologies, ensuring seamless operation within the mission framework.
- Conduct testing and validation of systems and equipment to ensure performance meets mission standards.
- Analyze mission performance data to identify opportunities for system improvements and optimization.
- Provide recommendations to improve the reliability, efficiency, and effectiveness of mission systems.
- Support continuous improvement efforts by conducting post-mission analysis and providing actionable insights.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, logistics, and mission specialists, to ensure engineering solutions meet mission needs.
- Communicate complex technical concepts to non-engineering stakeholders and provide updates on system performance, challenges, and improvements.
- Document engineering processes, technical specifications, and system configurations for future reference and knowledge sharing.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Aerospace, or a related technical field required, or combination of experience and education. Master's degree preferred.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in mission engineering, systems design, or a related technical field.
- **Clearance:** Top Secret
- Required Skills:
- Experience in Protected MILSATCOM environment and familiarity with systems engineering principles.
- Strong technical expertise in engineering design, system integration, and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency with engineering software and tools (e.g., CAD, simulation, modeling tools).
- Knowledge of mission planning and execution processes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex technical challenges.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple engineering priorities simultaneously.
- Preferred Skills:
- Experience with specific mission-critical engineering systems or technologies.
- Certification in systems engineering or related technical fields.
- Experience in software development or coding for mission support.
- High-paced mission environments, which m y include both office and fieldwork settings.
- Some travel may be required for mission planning and execution.
- May involve extended hours during critical mission phases or in response to emergencies
This is a full-time position, typically working 40 hours per week. Overtime may be required depending on operational needs.
