The Non-Commercial Food Service Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently delivering meals, food products, and program supplies to assigned sites using a refrigerated van. This position supports meal program operations by ensuring deliveries are completed on time, food safety standards are followed, and excellent customer service is provided to partners, program sites, and internal team members. The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, safety-focused, and able to manage time effectively in a fast-paced food service environment.

Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida is a member of Feeding America – the largest charitable domestic
hunger-relief organization in the United States. Second Harvest Food Bank secures and distributes food and grocery
products to more than 800 feeding partners throughout Central Florida. With the help of food and financial
donors, volunteers and a caring, committed community, the food bank distributes 300,000 meals every day to a seven-county
service area, which includes Brevard, Lake, Marion, Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Volusia. Feeding neighbors
facing hunger is only the beginning. By investing in job training programs, advocating for access to nutritious foods, and
inspiring our community to get involved, Second Harvest Food Bank is leaning into the root causes of hunger and helping

Department Overview
Meals for Good is a service that provides freshly prepared meals to early childcare centers, children's after-school programs, group homes, senior feeding programs, and private and charter schools. Plates of Plenty's goal is to provide the freshest, healthiest, and least processed ingredients available, and to deliver them in a safe and timely manner. All meals are prepared in our Darden Foundation Community Kitchen under the supervision of our Chefs and production staff. Proceeds from food service operations are used to further the fight against hunger in our community.
Work Schedule
Full-time, Monday-Friday; some weekends may be required based on operational needs
Job Responsibilities
- Safely operate a refrigerated, non-CDL vehicle to deliver meals, food products, and supplies to assigned locations according to established routes and schedules
- Load, unload, verify, and transport products while ensuring accuracy, proper documentation, and compliance with food safety and cold chain requirements
- Monitor and document product and vehicle temperatures, maintaining compliance with food safety, sanitation, and safe food handling standards
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections, maintain a clean and organized vehicle, and promptly report maintenance, safety, or delivery concerns
- Provide exceptional customer service while representing Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida professionally with partner agencies, volunteers, staff, and community members
- Assist with staging, organizing, and preparing products for delivery, and support warehouse, production, or meal program operations as needed
- Maintain accurate delivery records, temperature logs, and other required documentation
- Follow all organizational safety policies, traffic laws, food safety regulations, and standard operating procedures to ensure safe and efficient operations
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida
Minimum Requirements
- High school Diploma or GED
- Minimum of 1 year of driving experience
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
- Ability to safely operate a refrigerated van
- Basic knowledge of food safety standards or willingness to complete required food safety training
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to manage time, follow routes, and stay organized throughout the day
- Ability to read and follow delivery paperwork, route sheets, and basic instructions
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Capacity to identify issues and find solutions quickly and efficiently
- Keen observation skills to ensure accuracy and completeness of work
Desired but not required experience
- Previous experience in food service, delivery, warehouse, logistics, or nonprofit meal program operations
- Experience handling refrigerated or frozen food products
- ServSafe Food Handler certification or similar food safety training preferred
Physical requirements
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to load and unload meals, boxes, carts, and supplies
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout the workday.
- Ability to work in refrigerated, freezer, warehouse, kitchen, and outdoor delivery environments
- Ability to safely enter and exit a delivery vehicle multiple times per day
