Position Summary

Performs duties in and around the buildings of the hospital complex. Prepares and paints surfaces, blends, mixes and selects paints as required; also assists other craftsmen and workmen in completing their tasks as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Trade or vocational school graduate or 1 year’s experience as a painter or 1-3 years as a painter’s helper is desirable.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before employee groups within the organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discount, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area circumference and volume.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, and/or schedule form.

WORKING CONDITIONS - ADA INFORMATION

Duties require considerable standing, stooping, bending, lifting up to 75 pounds, climbing and pushing objects. Demonstrates good judgment and ability to organize and plan priority areas; to manage time and materials in day to day scheduling. Indoors and outside work with the possibility of irregular schedules including weekends, exposure to certain levels of dust and subject to injury such as solvent burns, cuts, and bruises.
