Job Description
The Patient Scheduling Director provides overall leadership across Essentia for the business management and strategic alignment of all scheduling functions and outcomes. The Patient Scheduling Director will play a critical role in developing and implementing cohesive scheduling strategies, ensuring accurate and consistent outcomes tracking, and improving overall scheduling efficiency and resource utilization. This position requires significant depth of understanding and experience in scheduling activities and systems, including clinic, ancillary, procedural, and surgical scheduling. Additionally, the role demands broad knowledge of all Essentia Health patient care functions, a working knowledge of clinical delivery environments, high-level internal and external customer service expertise, proven operational and analytical abilities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to develop and maintain positive and effective relationships with patients, physicians, corporate leaders, peers, and staff.

Education Qualifications
Key Responsibilities:
- Creates and executes a comprehensive scheduling strategy that integrates the needs of centralized and decentralized clinic scheduling, radiology scheduling, and procedural and surgery scheduling
- Provides leadership to standardize scheduling processes and ensure adherence to established protocols across all departments
- Develops and monitors consistent outcomes and process tracking mechanisms to measure scheduling efficiency and accuracy across all scheduling functions
- Develops and sets overall scheduling strategy with consultation and input from all relevant stakeholders
- Works closely with various departments to understand their unique scheduling needs and integrate them into the overall scheduling framework fostering collaboration between all scheduling teams to ensure cohesive and efficient scheduling practices
- Bachelor’s degree in health care administration, nursing or equivalent directly related education
- 5 years’ experience in healthcare leadership
- 2 years’ experience in scheduling management
- Experience working with Lean in process design
- Progressive management experience including proven experience and success with implementing organizational change, operational and financial analysis, setting performance measurements, establishing budget plans, monitoring process, strategic planning, project management, program development and implementation, intimate working knowledge of scheduling systems software, patient self-service, telephony and electronic information system interfaces with for scheduling, continuous quality improvement, and process improvement techniques
- Master’s degree
- Epic certification in Cadence and OpTime
