Job Description
Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system at UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial as an Pre/Post Recovery Room Nurse at the Ambulatory Surgery Center in Tinley Park. This position is a 100% onsite opportunity. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area.
Under the direction of the PACU Charge RN/Nurse Manager, responsible for pre-admission, preoperative, and postoperative care of the patient. Directs professional and other health care personnel in the delivery of nursing care to surgical patients; provides patient education; complies with standards, policies, and procedures; supports the vision and mission of Ingalls Ambulatory Surgery Center. The position will have a wide range of access to protected health information ("PHI") and understands the importance of confidentiality regarding all patient information under HIPAA policies and procedures.

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.

Essential Job Functions
- Collaborates closely with physicians to assess, design, coordinate, implement and evaluate the patient's plan of care and the patient's outcomes.
- Performs nursing duties, documents in electronic medical records, demonstrates the necessary skills and knowledge to provide complex nursing skills and delegates tasks to other Care Team members according to unit-specific competencies as appropriate to the age of the patients served, responsible for safe administration of medications, performing waived lab testing and, pre-admission screening phones calls, medical history review, providing patient instructions and post-discharge phone calls
- Participate in suite turnover/cleaning and patient transportation
- Acts as a preceptor
- Participates in huddles, and staff meetings and checks email at least once a month.
- Performs other duties assigned.
- Minimum 1 year of Perioperative experience, preferably ambulatory surgery
- Computer literacy (knowledge of EPIC is preferred)
- Ability to plan and lead clinical operations as a member of a management team.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergencies
- Ability to maintain effective communication and a working relationship with patients, families, physicians, co-workers, management, and ancillary department
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
- Bachelors of Sciences in Nursing (BSN) required
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS required
- Job Type/FTE: Registry (0.10 FTE)
