Primary Purpose Of The Role

The Process/Quality Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and improving manufacturing processes to ensure efficient production and product quality. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, identifying and building robust processes around equipment run-ability as well as driving initiatives to enhance product reliability and customer satisfaction. This individual will also manage small – medium new equipment and product launches including trials and vendor relationships.

Essential Job Duties

Process Improvement & Optimization:

• During new equipment and product launches, analyze and identify opportunities to improve production processes, reducing waste, enhancing efficiency, and lowering costs.
• Use methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen to streamline operations.
• Develop and implement process control plans, procedures, and facilitate new equipment & product launches within manufacturing sites.
  
  

Quality Assurance & Control

• Assist in development of quality control processes, including incoming material inspection, in-process inspection, and final product testing.
• Perform root cause analysis of defects and non-conformances, implementing corrective and preventive actions.
• Design equipment & products to meet Hoffmaster customer & regulatory requirements.
  
  

Collaboration & Reporting

• Work closely with production, design, and supply chain teams to resolve quality issues and improve product/process design.
• On new product and equipment launches, develop key performance indicators (KPIs) for quality, process efficiency, and yield.
• Prepare detailed reports on launch trials, quality metrics, and improvement activities for management review during new equipment and product launches
  
  

Training & Support

• Facilitate training and guidance to production teams on quality standards, process improvements, and best practices for new product & equipment launches.
• Ensure that quality standards are integrated into all stages of product development and manufacturing.
  
  

Supplier And Vendor Collaboration

• Collaborate with external suppliers and vendors to source materials and components.
  
  

Travel

• As part of this role, travel to manufacturing facilities, supplier locations, industry events/conferences (up to 20%) to oversee product development and ensure the timely execution of initiatives.
  
  

Required Skills/Abilities

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in process engineering, quality engineering, or manufacturing operations.
• Knowledge of quality management systems (QMS), process improvement techniques (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean).
• Proficiency with quality tools such as PFMEA and root cause analysis techniques.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across departments.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Bachelors degree in engineering
