Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated, innovative, and technically skilled Product Development Engineer to join our team. You will focus on the research, design, testing, and optimization of advanced filtration media and systems for residential, commercial, and industrial applications. You will play a key role in driving innovation from concept through commercialization, collaborating cross-functionally and supporting technical needs across the product development lifecycle to ensure that performance, regulatory, and customer requirements are met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead research and development efforts for new filtration technologies, including media formulation and system design targeting specific contaminants.
  • Develop and refine filtration media including activated carbon, ion exchange resins, membranes, and composite materials.
  • Use modeling tools to simulate filter performance and media lifespan to guide development before physical prototyping.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including test protocols, lab reports, CAD drawings, and product specifications.
  • Work with Quality team to ensure product compliance with NSF/ANSI standards (e.g., 42, 53, 401, P473) and applicable EPA drinking water regulations.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, Operations, and Marketing teams to ensure seamless integration of designs into production.
  • Provide technical support to internal stakeholders and assist in troubleshooting product-related issues in the field.
  • Stay current on emerging materials, technologies, regulatory changes, and water treatment trends.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • 3–5+ years of hands-on experience in R&D or product development related to water filtration or fluid treatment systems.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of water chemistry and treatment mechanisms such as adsorption, ion exchange, and membrane separation.
  • Skilled in the use of analytical instruments (e.g., ICP-MS, HPLC, UV-Vis, TOC, SEM, FTIR, particle counters).
  • Proficient in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) and capable of interpreting design and performance data.
  • Knowledge of NSF/ANSI standards and EPA regulations for drinking water products.

Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with NSF/ANSI certification processes and third-party regulatory testing.
  • Familiarity with Lean R&D, Stage-Gate, or Agile development processes.
  • Experience supporting customer technical requests and translating needs into product design requirements.
