As a Product Engineer within Asurion’s Global Product Engineering team, you will play a pivotal role in supporting high-volume disassembly and reassembly of mobile devices. You will be involved in various activities including device tear-down analysis, process development, tool creation, data analysis, and quality assurance. Your expertise will help drive improvements in device repair processes, contribute to the successful launch of new products, and support Asurion’s mission to provide top-tier service to our customers. 
II. Duties & Responsibilities:
Device Tear Down & Evaluation: Lead the disassembly of mobile devices to assess condition, identify defects, and determine repair strategies. Develop repair assessments, troubleshooting tips, and guidance materials for technicians to ensure efficient, high-quality repairs.
Process Development & Optimization: Contribute to the design and refinement of repair processes. Work with cross-functional teams to enhance workflow, tools, fixtures, jig usage and part management to optimize the efficiency of mobile device disassembly and reassembly.
Tool and Parts Development: Support the development of repair tools and the identification of necessary parts for high-volume disassembly and reassembly processes. Identify and implement best in class hardware and software tools and parts that meet quality standards and support seamless repair operations.
Data Collection & Analysis: Collect and analyze repair data to assess performance, identify improvement opportunities, and track repair trends. Provide data-driven recommendations to improve repair efficiency and effectiveness.
Project Management: Participate in various engineering projects, ensuring timelines, budgets, and deliverables are met. Support project planning, execution, and tracking while maintaining close collaboration with stakeholders across departments.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal and external teams (OEMs, third-party vendors, etc.) to ensure smooth product launches, product quality, and consistent repair processes.
Quality Assurance: Contribute to the development and maintenance of jigs and fixtures that lead to quality control processes for mobile device repairs. Conduct root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance repair quality and operational performance.
Training & Documentation: Assist in the development and maintenance of repair documentation, including work instructions, training materials, and troubleshooting guides. Support the onboarding of new technicians and ensure all staff are trained in updated repair procedures.
Supplier & Component Management: Support supplier readiness and qualifications, ensuring that components and materials meet Asurion’s repair standards and business needs.
III. Skills/Knowledge:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience in mobile device repair or engineering.
Experience: Previous experience in high-volume mobile device repair, engineering, or a related field. Hands-on experience with mobile device teardown and reassembly processes is highly desirable.
Technical Skills: Proficient in mobile device teardown, evaluation, and repair techniques. Familiarity with common repair tools, parts, and methods used in mobile device servicing.
Data Analysis: Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data to identify trends, performance gaps, and process improvement opportunities. Experience with tools for data analysis and reporting is preferred.
Problem-solving: Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to address operational challenges quickly and effectively.
Project Management: Ability to manage small-scale projects and support larger, cross-functional initiatives. Capable of working independently while coordinating with team members to meet project milestones.
Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to document repair processes, present findings, and collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical teams.
Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to device repair, ensuring all components are correctly handled, reassembled, and meet quality standards.
Quality Focus: Understanding of quality control processes and a passion for delivering high-quality outcomes.
IV. Education Guidelines:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering Discipline.
V. Experience Guidelines:
Experience with mobile device repair certifications or related industry-specific training.
Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) and training tools.
Previous experience with process improvement methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean).
Project management certifications or experience managing cross-departmental initiatives.
