Summary

Malaika Early Learning Center is seeking a dynamic, engaging leader for our Professional Development Specialist position to oversee the day-to-day operations of Malaika?s professional preparation program. This position has the opportunity to make a lasting impact on Early Childhood Education in Milwaukee. This position will be responsible for providing targeted professional development for ECE professionals, ongoing program and classroom support, data analysis, project management, and communication with community educators and leaders. This position will work with multiple stakeholders across the Brewers Hill, Halyard Park, and Harambee area.

Duties

  • Establish and maintain a high-quality Professional Development Center at the ThriveOn King location that provides complimentary programming for ECE professionals and leaders
  • Design, plan, and implement various high-quality programs to address individual organizations and community training needs
  • Develops methods and tools, collects data, and evaluates the effectiveness of professional development activities and participation; prepares reports and recommendations related to outcomes and possible improvements
  • Oversees the logistical requirements associated with professional development events and activities including schedules, staffing, publicity, training areas, and equipment
  • Facilitates the use of a broad range of traditional and technology approaches such as formal group and individual training, coaching, web-based programs, e-learning systems, and interactive video in the professional development program
  • Help ensure quality programming by delivering professional development to teachers, coaches, and leaders on how to effectively implement and deliver impactful program operations and quality
  • Serve as a leader for ECE professionals exemplifying Malaika?s mission-driven approach
  • Collaborate with community and ECE site leaders to develop and revise annual program professional development plans and trainings
  • Ensure high-quality professional development activities are available, accessible, and relevant to subjects or content areas that reflect research and developmentally appropriate early childhood education practices
  • Stay current and attend professional development opportunities related to your role
  • Understand policies, standards, practices, and efforts necessary for ensuring and retaining a well-educated, compensated, and skilled early childhood workforce

  • Flexible schedule outside of typical working hours with the ability to work occasional nights and weekends

  • Other duties as assigned by the Site Director

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor?s degree in Early Childhood Education preferred or related field with 5+ years experience in teaching, coaching teachers or providing professional development
  • Trainer and Technical Assistance Professional (T-TAP) required
  • Wisconsin Registry approved endorsed tier three trainer preferred
  • Childcare Foundational Training Instructor strongly preferred

Experience

  • Proficiency in using digital tools including online assessments and a high level of comfort in discussing and applying data with Early Childhood Education professionals
  • Ability to manage, monitor, evaluate, and ensure the integrity of program implementations
  • Knowledgeable of adult learning principles and how to apply them to professional development
  • Knowledge of the Wisconsin Registry System
  • Willingness to support colleagues outside of one?s primary responsibilities
  • Strong sense of accountability, dependability and high integrity
  • Flexible schedule outside of typical working hours with the ability to work occasional nights and weekends
