The Psychiatrist is a key associate at Hope Network whose primary responsibilities include: At the direction of the Medical Director, the Psychiatrist provides direct care for adults with serious mental illness and/or children/adolescents with emotional disturbances to improve their quality of life and to help maintain their optimal ability to function within the community. The psychiatrist works to ensure good outcomes for persons served bu collaborating with internal workforce members (RN’s and others such as the Case Manager or Therapist) and external providers to coordinate psychiatric and medical treatment. The position oversees the overall administration of pharmaceutical and psychiatric treatment planning. The Psychiatrist has a high degree of personal integrity, generates positive energy, and makes a difference every day.

  • Know the contract requirements for your program/service inclusive of documentation and payer guidelines
  • Embrace the concepts of recovery and expects all personnel to follow the principles of recovery; supports and encourages this concept to enable the population we work with to reach their full potential.
  • Conduct psychiatric assessments and determine a diagnosis of condition and planning (including medical necessity), monitoring, and discharge from services.
  • Assess concomitant medical conditions, including co-occurring substance abuse disorders.
  • Prescribe, dispense, and administer medications and procure medication consents.
  • Provide medical consultation and referrals.
  • Supervise diagnosis, treatment planning (including medical necessity), monitoring, and discharge from services.
  • Conduct, interpret and/or supervise AIMS testing.
  • Conduct medication reviews.
  • Engage persons-served and monitor their well-being.
  • Document encounters with persons served within designated timeframes, ensuring comprehensive and timely documentation that supports the medical necessity for the current level of care and specific services, including medications.
  • Make sure that 100% of your training and credentialing/privileging requirements are renewed prior to expiration date, as specified by job.
  • Participate in Prescriber Peer Review process, semi-annual medical staff meetings, and other quality and continuous process improvement activities.
  • Adhere to high level of health and safety practices in physical facilities and in corporate vehicles.
  • Willingness to assist person served with the completion of documents required for the application to receive entitlement benefits and other assistance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Educational / Talent Requirements

  • State of Michigan Physician’s License (MD or DO) AND;
  • DEA Number; AND
  • Board Certified/Board Eligible in Psychiatry or Board Certified/Board Eligible in Child Psychiatry (when working with children and adolescents).
  • Valid driver’s license required with driving record acceptable to Hope Network policy and standards. Ability to drive personal or company vehicles for work-related activities.

Work Experience Requirements

  • Maintain professional licensure in an active status without suspension or revocation throughout employment (professional staff).
  • Firsthand knowledge of characteristics and conditions experienced by person-served.
