The Opportunity

The Memphis Grizzlies are looking for a Public Safety Officer to patrol and protect the FedExForum, promote and enforce safety and security, and act as a visible deterrent against irregular activity. You will assist in 24/7 security for the arena as well as event-related security. We are seeking qualified Public Safety Officers to join our team across all shifts—first, second, and third.

In This Role You Will

  • Protect company’s property and staff by maintaining a safe and secure environment.
  • Recognize and report signs of crime or disorder and investigate disturbances.
  • Report detailed notes of unusual occurrences that may jeopardize the safety and security of employees, contractors, vendor partners, and guests.
  • Conduct pedestrian and vehicle patrol for the building interior and external perimeter.
  • Monitor and control access at building entrances and vehicle gates.
  • Operate CCTV and access control systems.
  • Possess a strong working knowledge of all security posts with the capability to exercise good judgment in a professional manner at each position.
  • Distribute, collect, and inventory shift equipment (ex. radios).
  • Conduct screening of employees, visitors, vendors, and contractors.
  • Perform necessary security overwatch and engagement in covered and opened parking areas of the FedExForum and related areas, including the dock.
  • Deploy traffic barriers and assist in traffic management for the FedExForum and adjacent properties.
  • Document and submit shift reports regarding incidents, tasks, activities, notes, and other pertinent information.
  • Conduct threat detection monitoring (ex. weather, social media, and open-source data).
  • Possess a strong working knowledge of all security posts with the capability to exercise good judgment in a professional manner at each position.
  • Participates in a variety of meetings and committees to ensure that safety and security issues are appropriately addressed.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

The Experience You Will Bring

  • High-School Diploma or GED.
  • At least one year of related security experience or equivalent military experience.
  • Working knowledge of security operations and/or safety practices.
  • Must be able to meet minimum requirements for the license eligibility for the State of Tennessee Private Protective Services.
  • Must be able to meet qualifications for license renewal under the State of Tennessee Private Protective Services every 2 years.
  • Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

Physical/Cognitive Requirements

With or without reasonable accommodations:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, working on a computer, walking, and standing.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Ability to travel throughout the facility, as required.
  • Must possess visual activity, i.e.: close, distance, and color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to work in a variety of environments, including but not limited to heights, elevators, darkened arena, around crowds, loud noise, and flashing lights.
  • Continuous stretching, standing and walking, including up and downstairs.

Nice To Have

  • Knowledge of sports and entertainment, specifically NBA basketball.
  • Security license.
  • Working knowledge of safety equipment.
