Job Description

Primary Accountability

The Quality Improvement Analyst is responsible for Quality Improvement functions that achieve business vision, objectives, and health care standards of care objectives across all departments through definition, analysis, implementation of process, policy, and systems improvement initiatives.

Description Of Primary Responsibilities

  • Performs and presents detailed analysis for internal decision-making regarding outcomes for clinical quality, operational efficiency, and operational effectiveness for health centers.
    • Is able to independently gather/research information relevant to analyses (including large data sets) from both internal and external sources.
    • Utilizes research analysis methods, such as predictive, descriptive, diagnostic and prescriptive.
    • Conduct root-cause analysis incorporating methods like Plan, Do, Study, Act and LEAN Six Sigma.
    • Incorporates statistical methods for data analysis such as Regression, Factor, Time Series, and Discriminant analysis methods.
    • Conduct forecasts, and trend analysis to determine areas of improvement for the organization.
    • Conducts desk and/or site audits to determine organizational performance based off of strategic goals/operational goals, patient safety; including for adhoc performance analysis projects.
    • Validates, assembles and summarizes data, prepares reports, presents findings, and makes recommendations to Management.
    • Defines data requirements and develops tools for data collection, analysis and quality metrics, such as dashboards, reports, and assessment tools.
    • Identifies, investigates, and reports discrepancies in the data by utilizing qualitative and quantitative research methods.
    • Develops and delivers post-production reports and presentations to appropriate leadership.
  • Responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of organizational improvements, regulatory adherence, and recognition/accreditation/licensing efforts, including, but not limited to, those associated with:
    • The Joint Commission accreditation;
    • Bureau of Primary Care: Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA) Compliance;
    • Payer Plan audits;
    • Title X
    • Patient Centered Medical Home Recognition;
    • Health Home Program
    • Population Health Management; and
    • National, Regional, State, and Local partnerships to improve quality of care.
  • Assists data preparation and analysis efforts of other FHCN departments as needed.
  • Responsible for performing training and technical support to other staff in other FHCN departments related to quality improvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for gathering and analyzing data to support FHCN’s grant reporting processes.
Description Of Primary Attributes

Professional & Technical Knowledge:

  • Possesses specific advanced knowledge skills, including written and verbal communications skills, computational, computer and technical skills, data research experience and mathematical knowledge frequently acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s Degree program with a focus in Health Analytics, Public Health, or another recognized major or four years’ experience in a data research analytics.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements, including HRSA, HEDIS, HIPAA, Title X, CDPH; and accreditation processes of The Joint Commission preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Ability to prepare more complex documents in Microsoft Word, including creating tables, charts, graphs, and other elements.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Excel to analyze data, including the use of formulas, functions, lookup tables, and other standard spreadsheet elements.
  • Ability to develop sophisticated presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint, including the use of embedded objects, transitions, and other elements.

Licenses & Certifications: None required.

Communications Skills

  • Job duties require the employee to effectively communicate their opinions and extrapolations of information they collect and synthesize/analyze.
  • Expected to exercise tact and diplomacy in the resolution of mild conflicts or disagreements.
  • Must determine the appropriate methods of communicating information through the use of tables, graphs, charts, and other visual forms.
  • Compiles, analyzes and prepares information in an effective written form, including correspondence, reports, articles or other documentation.
  • Job duties require the effective communication of information during formal verbal presentations, including presenting technical information to non-technical audiences.

Pay Scale

Min Hourly Rate: $29.02

Max Hourly Rate: $40.04
