Job Summary

Primary responsibility of the Recovery Specialist is to provide support to Peer Partners and Members. Under the general supervision of the Wellness Center Program Director, the Recovery Specialist promotes self-reliance among the members and provides recovery (WRAP) support and services to the members as needed and requested.

Responsibilities

  • Attends and participates in weekly staff meetings. Discusses Center operations and program challenges. Identifies any program development and staff training needs.
  • Promotes and emphasizes WRAP recovery principals, focusing on members’ skills and abilities.
  • Assists in developing outcome measurements including documentation, which tracks member and center outcomes.
  • Maintains relevant files of WRAP information, including maintaining master forms for files; including all tracking forms, training guides/materials and Pacific Clinics policies and procedures.
  • Provides assistance in organizing training materials and monthly and quarterly reports as assigned.
  • Maintains compliance standards in accordance with HIPPAA, State, County and organizational guidelines to ensure member confidentiality, protected health information (PHI) and quality care.
  • Communicates effectively and competently with a culturally diverse consumer population and promotes respectful interactions with members’, co- workers and management.
  • Under direct supervision, completes documentation and other paperwork in a timely and accurate manner, and in accordance with MHA standards and funding source requirements.
  • Under direct supervision, participates with the team to assist in the development of a Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) for all members of the center. The focus will include peer involvement, support, self- help and a self- advocacy component.
  • Works actively with the team to develop strategies for outreach to members who tend to isolate themselves.
  • Under direct supervision, provides supportive assistance to and the modeling of self-efficacy with the members helping them to research and access needed, desired community resources including; finding and obtaining housing, health care benefits, SSI entitlement benefits etc.
  • Under direct supervision, provides “hands-on life coaching” to train, mentor and support members through shared “lived experience” in recovery, guiding others to acquire recovery tools to build/improve basic healthy living skills.
  • Under direct supervision, researches, develops, coordinates and/or offers structured workshops (i.e., WRAP, Procovery). These will include; peer support and self-help groups, wellness activities that reflect members needs, interests and desires.
  • Coaches, supports and engages peer partners and peer members through WRAP to research, plan and lead these activities for themselves, by encouraging members’ skills and talents.
  • Works cooperatively with others as a team player, to assure a smooth, seamless delivery of comprehensive services to members. Attends required trainings and meetings by participating actively in the community life of the work site.
  • Provides off-site presentations, introducing the Wellness Center to the Community Partners and potential new members.
  • Attends Community Partner Meetings as requested.
  • Interacts with other internal programs, clinical/support staff and external sources such as school or community personnel as applicable.
  • Responsible for reporting to work on time and maintaining reliable attendance in accordance with Agency policy.
  • Models Pacific Clinics’ approach, mission and core values in all communication and correspondence.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE/POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Minimum of one (1) year of relevant Mental Health experience working with adults.

Must demonstrate the ability to work on a multidisciplinary team.

Bilingual Abilities Consistent With Program/client Needs Strongly Preferred.

High school diploma or GED required.

This position reserved for an individual who has lived (or family) experience with mental illness and the mental health system.

Flexible work schedule to include occasional evenings, weekends and holidays.

Must know or quickly acquire extensive knowledge of local community resources.
