Nature Of Work

Performs specialized work in the area of recreation and leisure services. Provides comprehensive support to daily operations at the City of Orlando’s Pottery Studio. Under general supervision, performs tasks that include fiscal procedures and staff schedules to assisting with creative marketing and member services. Assists in administrative procedures involved in the design and conduct of recreation programs. Oversees volunteer activities, private group scheduling, inventory and assists in kiln room production support logistics. May be responsible for a City of Orlando-wide program. Exercises some initiative and independent judgment in planning and conducting center activities for all ages. Work is reviewed through periodic observation by a Center Manager while in progress and through reports submitted. Some work is performed outdoors, and the employee is exposed to weather conditions, including heat. Required to work at night and on weekends.

Minimum Requirements

High School Diploma or Equivalent and one (1) year of experience in organized recreation or leisure services field overseeing various activities such as educational programs, youth sports, cultural and therapeutic arts, health and fitness, or community centers required; or an equivalent combination of related education, training and experience. Criminal background check and polygraph required. Valid Florida driver’s license required at time of application.

College degree or some college coursework desired.

The incumbent is required to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

VALID DRIVER LICENSE MUST BE PRESENTED AT TIME OF INTERVIEW. VALID FLORIDA DRIVER LICENSE MUST BE PRESENTED WITHIN 30 DAYS OF HIRE.

If this posting indicates a degree is required, the following experience will apply in lieu of any degree as follows:

  • Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
  • Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
  • Six (6) years of direct experience for a master's degree; or
  • Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree
