Job Summary:
We are seeking a scientist to join the CVI innovation team based in California. Our experienced team is built with both clinically trained and research trained members with responsibilities to identify and evaluate novel contact lens and ophthalmic interventions designed to solve unmet needs within the eyecare community.
Team responsibilities range from initial invention to rigorous testing of prototype products. We are responsible to develop the next generation of products for CooperVision Inc. Important skills within our team include high quality verbal and written communication to the broader CooperVision and Eyecare communities, and the ability to work closely with remote research partners and cross functional departments within R&D. Considerable time and efforts centers on the design, implementation and monitoring of clinical trials. Data analysis skills are essential.
A successful candidate will be eager to apply research skills to the real-world task of developing improved refractive and CL treatments in the area of myopia research.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions & Accountabilities:
- Contribute to multi-disciplinary, cross functional research teams to complete activities and reach milestones of well-defined research projects
- Solid research design skills to support the design and writing of scientifically rigorous research protocols.
- Solid data analysis skills to help supervisors interpret research results and to write reports, delivering clear data visualization and conclusions.
- Work closely with established external partners to define scope of work; ensures appropriate study conduct , data integrity and transfer to the CVI team.
- Participate in team efforts to identify current trends in clinical research and competitor activity.
- Participate in the dissemination of research results within the broader CooperVision community and to the clinical research community via presentations and publications.
- Solid foundational knowledge of optics, ocular physiology, contact lens performance and preferably interest/experience in myopia research.
- Support your supervisors by applying knowledge of regulatory requirements related to medical devices (IRB / IDE / Design Control/ PMA etc.) when conducting research projects
- Some travel to research partners; international conferences or other CooperVision sites is required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Competent in research design, data analysis, statistical analysis, medical writing, Good Clinical Practice.
- Demonstrates intellectual curiosity when exploring new findings or technologies.
- Demonstrates initiative when tackling complex novel problems.
- Normal office environment
- Sedentary to light physical effort necessary to perform the job.
- Extensive contact with employees and outside researchers
- Some travel to research partners; international conferences or other CooperVision sites is required.
- Years of experience depends upon educational degree achieved
- (PhD + 2 years) or (OD or equivalent + PhD) or (OD or equivalent + MS + 1 years work experience) or (OD or equivalent + 3 years work experience)
